Into the Badlands Reviews & Ratings

Sundays, 10:00 PM ET on AMC

60 minutes

Into the Badlands is a genre-bending martial arts series very loosely based on the classic Chinese tale Journey to the West. In a land controlled by feudal barons, Into the Badlands tells the story of a great warrior and a young boy who embark on a journey across a dangerous land to find enlightenment.

Interesting setting, vibrant colors, AMAZING fight scenes (for TV). The actors are not quite as amazing, although you can see everybody gives their best, with some great performances by
Marton Csokas and Ally Ioannides, for example. This show may not be for everyone, and is not to be taken too seriously, but I'm really curious where it will go.

It's a lot like watching an okay video game cut scene. At least for the pilot it relied heavily on visual juxtaposition much more than story. I do think people are being overly critical of the first episode though. I would be interested to see where it goes but then again i don't much mind video game cut scenes.

This show is great. A solid action show with a solid casts and acting. Beautiful scenes, with a hint of mysticism and the best fight sequences without the use of guns. If you're into the old king fu shows of way back when, this is the show for you. I hope it lasts.

Did I see this correctly... a post-apocalyptic martial art action drama show from AMC; yes I did. At a first glance the show seems good. The action scenes are well filmed and acted. The cast seems like they will be hitting all their marks and the story was pretty interesting. I am looking forward to see what comes out of this show. This is an excellent addition to my show repertoire.

This show is pretty cool with the martial arts and different fight scenes. I love how the special boy has powers when he bleeds! The baron is always a good actor whether he is good or bad we don't know yet! I'm excited to see what happens next!

Love, love, love this guilty-pleasure. Frickin' bada$$! A martial arts series like this with an interesting storyline hasn't seen TV in ...ever. The characters are completely unique, each an integral part of the sets in this dystopian genre-twister where battles are settled the exciting way, "Kill-Bill" styled, Master Woo Peng's protege style by Martial arts choreographer Master Dee Dee Ku. His packed resume includes working with Keanu Reeves for "The Matrix," Uma Thurman for "Kill Bill," and Zhang Ziyi for "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon."I wasn't keen on the finale (really grand, though) but look forward to what's next. Who doesn't love a show with a travelling dojo!
Hats off to Daniel Wu!

It's a okay/good kung fu tv show, nothing more and nothing less. Season 1 really is just a introduction, will have to see where they take it in season 2.
