Izombie: "Looking For Mr. Goodbrain, Part 2" Review

You have to hand it to iZombie for not playing it safe, with Season 3 functioning as a huge game-changer in a way that truly earned that oft-used descriptor. It really feels as though the series is now moving into a much more fantastical, "alternate universe" place going forward. Look, obviously any series that is about zombies is fantasy from the start, of course, but with so many of Seattle’s citizens now transformed – and the truth about their existence now revealed – we’re now much more in "What if?" terrain and a look at how society would function under these incredible circumstances. The glimpses we got at the end of those brain distribution stations, scared/angry humans attacking said stations, and Fillmore Graves essentially running the show, all set in place a very exciting Season 4 that upends all of the "will Liv and the other zombies’ identities be revealed?" aspects iZombie was fueled by for much of its run until now. Izombie: "Looking For Mr. Goodbrain, Part 1" Review

A combination of Peak TV, Peak Me Traveling and CW not regularly making episodes of iZombie available to press early stopped me from being able to do weekly reviews this season, but I definitely wanted to jump back in to review the two-part season finale, which kicked off this week. And man, "Looking for Mr. Goodbrain Part 1" sure had a lot going on! Katty is dead, and Chase may be the killer! Harley became a suicide bomber and took out Natalie and most of Major’s buddies! The middle of the season got a bit messy as the Fillmore Graves storyline felt somewhat pushed to the side for awhile, and it was a clunky transition from Vivian to Chase as the leader at FG. I wish Chase could have been around all season to make this reveal even bigger (if it’s what it appears to be…), but certainly Jason Dohring is great at playing charming yet dangerous, as we saw a new, seductive side to Chase... and then learned he might be a killer. iZombie Season 3 Episode 13 Review: “Looking For Mr. Goodbrain, Part 2”

If there’s one thing that iZombie knows how to do better than almost any other show on television, it’s produce game-changing, mind-blowing, adrenaline-pumping season finales. And while "Looking For Mr. Goodbrain, Part 2" doesn’t quite reach the thrilling heights of last season’s "Salivation Army," it’s undoubtedly a more important episode to the series as a whole, as tonight’s Season 3 finale doesn’t just inch closer to the eventual discovery of zombies; it full-on delivers that reveal to not just major recurring characters like Bozzio and Johnny Frost but to the entire country. By the end of the hour, pretty much all citizens of the United States (if not the whole world) are aware of zombies’ existence and know that Seattle is essentially their Mecca. Chase Graves has implemented a volunteer, organ donor-like system that will supply all of Seattle’s zombies with brains from the dead so that they will not pose a threat to the members of the living, and while it’s a solid idea in theory, we can already see the conflicts that have arisen since Discovery Day, as Major, Justin, and the rest of Fillmore-Graves’ mercenaries are forced to shoot down an angry mob of humans that won’t stand down. We also briefly see the strain that being out and in the open is putting on Liv’s life, as she mentions to Ravi that people pass her in their cars on the street and give her the finger as they drive by. It’s clear that this zombie/human partnership will not be as harmonious as Chase Graves had hoped it would be (although we do learn that this Plan-B was not his plan all along but one that he was forced to adopt due to a mutiny led by Fillmore-Graves employee, Carey Gold), and the ups and downs that Discovery Day has caused and will continue causing will certainly be a major focus in Season 4. iZombie Season 3 Episode 13 Review: Looking for Mr. Goodbrain, Part 2

Welcome to Z-Club Dale and Ravi (?), it's a shame it had to happen like this. There is a lot to process after watching iZombie Season 3 Episode 13 . It certainly was an interesting finale, that's for sure. Discovery Day is upon the citizens of Seattle, and it has turned everything we know, so far, about the series on its head. Zombies are at an advantage now, and Seattle has become the zombie beacon that Vivian Stoll knew it would be. She just had no idea it would go down like this.   ...Read More...   https://www.tvfanatic.com/2017/06/izombie-season-3-episode-13-review-looking-for-mr-goodbrain-part/

iZombie Season 3 Episode 12 Review: “Looking For Mr. Goodbrain, Part 1”

Oh, Major. Poor, poor Major. iZombie just can’t let him be happy for even one single episode, can it? And after everything he has been through in recent weeks, the devastating emotional blow that he suffers at the end of "Looking For Mr. Goodbrain, Part 1" might be what finally pushes him over the edge, because even though I saw Natalie’s death coming, I’d be lying if I said that it didn’t break my heart a little bit. While Natalie has only appeared in a few episodes of iZombie, she makes a major impact every time she appears onscreen due to her powerful connection with Major, which began almost instantaneously when the two of them met back in the middle of Season 2. Natalie served as a beacon of light during the darkest period of Major’s life last season; with her, he didn’t have to be the Chaos Killer, and she was one of the few people in his life with whom he could be completely honest. iZombie Season 3 Episode 12 Review: Looking for Mr. Goodbrain, Part 1

Major's going away party was lit. Not to mention, the music wasn't the only thing banging and booming. It was an explosive hour. OK, that's all I have for now. What's a penultimate hour without an explosion of some sort, right? iZombie Season 3 Episode 12 brought the heat with the barely twisty last installment before the season finale. There weren't too many shockers, but it was entertaining, to say the least.   ...Read More...   https://www.tvfanatic.com/2017/06/izombie-season-3-episode-12-review-looking-for-mr-goodbrain-part/

iZombie Season 3 Episode 11 Review: “Conspiracy Weary”

It’s fitting that this far into Season 3 of iZombie that Liv would eat the brain of a conspiracy theorist since there are still many wild guesses and potential explanations being thrown out by fans as they try to answer many of this season’s remaining mysteries. iZombie viewers and the show’s characters both still have a lot of questions heading into the final two episodes of the series’ third season, but "Conspiracy Weary" begins creating a clearer picture of who exactly is behind the various murders and cover-ups we’ve seen take place this year. At the moment, the two people at the center of these yet-to-be-solved mysteries are Liv and Peyton. The two of them use the clues that they have (some of which come from Liv’s visions, while others come from Peyton’s smart investigative skills) to put the pieces together and reach some believable explanations for what’s been happening in Seattle recently and how it very likely involves the city’s newly elected zombie mayor. That’s right, Baracus officially wins the election in "Conspiracy Weary," and while Liv and Peyton initially thought it could be a good thing to have a member of the undead with that much power, both of them immediately regret placing their trust in Baracus (and giving him their votes) after they come to the conclusion that he was behind the murders of Sweet Lady Pain and Wekler and the subsequent cover-up.
