Tonight's TV Hot List: Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010

* Winter Olympics (8/7c NBC) Some of the Winter Olympics' most recognizable names are in action, with live coverage of some top-notch events. Making his first-and-only appearance in competition is the ballyhooed Shaun White in snowboarding's halfpipe. The "Flying Tomato" had spectators' jaws dropping with new tricks in events prior to the Games. Also anticipated is the women's downhill in Alpine skiing, with U.S. star Lindsey Vonn (if she returns from her shin injury), who dominated this event in the World Cup. "I try to ski like the guys," she says. "Dynamic, but also balanced." On the ice, world-record holder and defending gold medalist Shani Davis races in speed skating's 1,000-meter. His toughest foe may be 20-year-old teammate Trevor Marsicano, who beat him on this ice in the 2009 Worlds. "Instead of [him] thinking of me as a kid, and me being in awe of him: We now have a mutual respect," claims Marsicano. Apolo Anton Ohno, goes round and round in two short-track events, the 1,000-meter prelims and 5,000-meter relay semifinal. * American Idol (9/8c Fox) Amid all the spiking pressure, an ever diminishing number of remaining singer-wannabes tried to display their musical chops in last night's showcases, their bid for a slot in the Top 24 on the line. Tonight's episode marks the conclusion of the Hollywood round, with judges Simon, Randy, Kara and Ellen laboring to make the final cuts. Their work yields the unveiling of the coveted Top 24, as 12 males and 12 females are deemed the best of the rest, their positions solidified for next week's semifinal round. * Leverage (10/9c TNT ) The fine con-job series draws to a seasonal close in the conclusion of its two-part sophomore-year finale. Nate fever continues when the scheme weavers, captained by hustling do-gooder Nate Ford, go forward in their "mission impossible" to take down an immoral mayor and his gunrunning cohort. Here, the winter story arc revolving around the goddess of grift - temp team member Tara Cole (Jeri Ryan), that is - wraps up. Not only that, but a dramatic revelation involving Sophie comes to the fore. Dean Devlin directed the episode. * Nip/Tuck (10/9c FX ) Can this relationship be saved? We'll see what sort of shape they're in when they limp to the finish line (the series finale's March 3), but last week's "couples therapy" certainly was jarring, and tonight, Christian has a nightmare (while under anesthesia for a face-lift) populated by Joan Rivers, his father (Robert Davi), and old friends Annette Wainwright and Lulu Grandiron (Joan Van Ark and Donna Mills). Business is terrible, to boot. But at least Liz meets a gal she likes. * Psych (10/9c USA Network ) The Psych gang's obsession with all things 1980s continues tonight when Breakfast Club alum Judd Nelson guest-stars, joining the ranks of fellow Brat Packer-turned-Psych guest star Ally Sheedy. In the episode, Shawn and Gus try to get their hands on a deadly pathogen that's been stolen. The pressure is on to catch the thief before he or she unleashes it on the city. Source Here

Tonight's TV Hot List: Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010 - Featured

* Cougar Town (9:30/8:30c ABC) Since this show's episode titles are named after Tom Petty songs, and this installment is called "When a Kid Goes Bad" (from Petty's 2002 album The Last DJ, for those keeping score), one thought comes to mind: poor, wayward Travis. Well, he doesn't kill anyone, but let's say his Jules and Bobby aren't too thrilled when he wants to go to a party where alcohol will be served. Meanwhile, Laurie meets Smith's father (Barry Bostwick), and it looks like the apple fell nowhere near the tree. * American Idol (9/8c Fox) In this real-world twist on the Willy Wonka fable, these hungry hopefuls yearned to win that golden ticket - only to now find themselves in a strange place with bitter-tasting tests. Last night marked the contestants' first Hollywood-round foray (and newbie Ellen DeGeneres' first judging performance). And that's when reality hit our sultans of sing: Their coveted golden ticket has advanced them to punishing rehearsals, nerve-fraying auditions and the ever-looming prospect of an elimination. Hoping to secure a sweet slot in the Top 24, the singers perform tonight in the second heat of the Hollywood round. * CSI: NY (10/9c CBS) Danica Patrick is a killer competitor on the race track but is she a murderer? Tonight, the IndyCar driver and NASCAR newbie guest stars as a Grand Prix racer who may be involved in another driver's death. The victim (Antonio Sabato Jr.), one of the sport's legends, dies when his car suddenly explodes during a race exhibition just two days before the major event is to take place. The investigation reveals the car was tampered with, which means the man was murdered. But Danica, responsible? Say it ain't so daddy. * Leverage (10/9c TNT ) The snappy, high-styled show's second season begins drawing to a close with the first half of the two-part finale. This time out, artful swindler Nate Ford and his justice-serving outlaws take aim at a crooked local mayor, and their big-league scam involves taking advantage of his passion for baseball. Play ball, the game is on. But a ball is dropped in this field of schemes, and a thorny snafu jeopardizes the A-team's con-job winning streak. Jeri Ryan recurs as temporary crew member Tara Cole, and Richard Kind guest stars. Dean Devlin directed the episode. * Face of America with Henry Louis Gates Jr. (8/7c PBS) Following up on his fascinating African American Lives series, Henry Louis Gates Jr. expands his focus to include a wider swath of the American experience, utilizing genealogical and genetic tools to unearth the family histories of such prominent folks as Stephen Colbert, Eva Longoria, Jordan's Queen Noor, Dr. Mehmet Oz and Meryl Streep. The four-episode expedition begins with cellist Yo-Yo Ma, director Mike Nichols and figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi. Source Here

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE LA-LA LAND RECORDS TO RELEASE SOUNDTRACK FOR LEVERAGE The Series Boasts a Jazz and Pop-Flavored Score by Emmy Award-Winner Joseph LoDuca (January 5, 2010 Burbank, CA) - La-La Land Records will be releasing the soundtrack for the TNT TV series Leverage. Executive Producer Dean Devlin turned to his composer for the Librarian films and the miniseries The Triangle, Emmy Award-Winning composer Joseph LoDuca (The Legend of the Seeker, Xena: Warrior Princess) to write the music for the series, which will be available in-stores and via on January 19, 2010. The music on the soundtrack mirrors the fun nature of the show, blending remix jazz grooves with pop production tricks. As LoDuca sums it up, "There is nothing long-winded or pretentious about the music on this album. It is all about grown-up fun." Executive Producer Dean Devlin agrees. "For his work on the Leverage series Joe's composition truly embodies and reflects what makes this show so enjoyable; it's energetic, it's hip, but mostly it's fun." TNT set Tuesday nights on fire with the Leverage, a thrilling, fast-paced drama series starring Oscar winner Timothy Hutton. This summer, the gang is back with more elaborate scams designed to exact revenge against those who use power and wealth to victimize people. Hutton stars as Nate Ford, a former insurance investigator determined to bring down the kind of corrupt bigwigs whose neglect led to the death of his son. His highly skilled team includes Sophie Devereaux (Gina Bellman - Coupling), a grifter who uses her acting skills to corner her marks; Eliot Spencer (Christian Kane - TNT's Into the West), a "retrieval specialist" with bone-crunching fighting skills; Alec Hardison (Aldis Hodge - Friday Night Lights), a gadget and technology wizard who keeps the team connected and informed; and Parker (Beth Riesgraf - Alvin and the Chipmunks), a slightly off-center thief adept at repelling off buildings or squeezing into tight places. Together, the team puts their energy, quick minds and keen intellects toward securing justice for society's underdogs. Each episode has its own musical set up. For the episode Twelve Step Job, LoDuca wrote a drunken Irish rage/electric folk tune. Andy Lange, the assistant dub mixer, wrote "Not Sure Yet", a recurring them that appears as a backdrop to the on-again/off-again relationship sub-plot between Nate and Sophie. The show is a romp, following the modern day "Robin Hoods" on their adventures scamming major corporations, and the music follows suit. "When the rhythm section is pumping, the pace of the scam and the comic banter feel like a breezy scat song," LoDuca describes. "Then we need to let go of the beat to get inside the heads and hearts of the characters." Joseph LoDuca's credits include 2 Primetime Emmy Awards, eleven Primetime Emmy Nominations and "Most Performed Underscore" recognitions from ASCAP for four consecutive years. He was nominated again in 2007 for Outstanding Music for Movie or Mini-Series for Devlin's The Librarian. He received a Csar Nomination for Meilleure Musique crite Pour Un Film (Best Music) for Brotherhood of the Wolf. Additional credits include over twenty feature film scores and thirteen regional Emmys. He has composed music for the highest-rated syndicated series: Xena: Warrior Princess, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, the critically acclaimed American Gothic and The Triangle. He is currently scoring The Legend of the Seeker and the upcoming Spartacus television series. For more information, visit The third season of Leverage will begin airing on TNT on January 13, 2010. The original soundtrack will be available at and in stores on January 19th. ### For more information please contact

Ratings: Psych Plunges From Premiere - Featured

From TV By the Numbers: Robert posted last week about the 20% ratings fall Leverage suffered against the season premiere of Psych . Last night Psych got hit hard in a post-premiere slump, and Leverage was mixed, but topped Psych in average viewers and closed the gap in adults 18-49. Psych slid almost 35% to just 2.856 million viewers (vs. 4.367 million for the premiere). It's A18-49 rating fell to a 1.1 from a 1.5 for the premiere. The "USA strategy of moving dramas off Friday was a success" pronouncement may have been a bit premature. TNT might have hoped for a big rebound for Leverage, but it was effectively flat. Down 4% in viewers to 2.913 million (from 3.020 million last week). But it got a little boost in its A18-49 ratings to a 0.9 from a 0.8 last week. Both had a new CSI:NY and Ugly Betty on broadcast as competition this week vs. repeats last week. Source
