Limitless Reviews & Ratings

60 minutes

LIMITLESS, based on the feature film, is a fast-paced drama about Brian Finch (Jake McDorman), who discovers the brain-boosting power of the mysterious drug NZT and is coerced by the FBI into using his extraordinary cognitive abilities to solve complex cases for them. Working closely with Brian in the major case squad in New York City is Special Agent Rebecca Harris (Jennifer Carpenter), a formidable investigator with a dark past, and Special Agent Boyle (Hill Harper), a former military officer and Rebecca’s confidante. They report to Special Agent in Charge Nasreen “Naz” Pouran (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio), a canny manipulator of the reins of power.

I have mixed feelings about this show. The mood is spot on, with a decent soundtrack, special effects, and clear visuals to show when the protagonist is on NZT. However the writing often makes it feel like a cookie-cutter cop procedural where each week the solution a little white pill full of Deus Ex Machina.
The show isn't very smart either. There have been multiple episodes where it looks like the NZT isn't working properly, but it's just bad writing.

This show is funny, and great compared to many procedurals similar to it. With some very good performances and jokes, this show is worth checking out.

Slick, watchable, well-produced, but ultimately merely a soulless sci-fi Sherlock Holmes rip-off.

Wow! LOVED the premiere! What a running start, quite literally, the show is off to. Love the casting, the acting, the production values, Bradley!!!!! Wow, all of it is just amazing, please let is stay as good or even get better!

ETA: As of March 2016 this is now on my 'meh' list. What's with the animated sequences, Bollywood dancing, ridiculous code names, it feels like a new showrunner has taken over and decided to target this at teenagers. I'd google to find out but as I said, 'meh' - am no longer watching. Brian and his cardigan have entered another universe and I am not going along for the ride. Shame. I really enjoyed this lighthearted show but there's a difference between lighthearted and writing the script whilst high!

I think this is going to be the best new show of the season. okeey the season is just starting and i havn't watch all the new shows (yet) but i watch eppisode 1 and 2 from this show and i love it!!
It's crime solving (jes a nother one) but whit a lot of humor (i think this is a dutch word don't now the englisch one sorry) the story tells how a 28 year guy, Brain, who thin't do much whit his life gets realy smart becouse of a pill that makes your brain work more (you now the old ...% of the brain we don't use) Brain starts working at the FBI the fun parts ar mostly the voiceover from Brain wo is commenting as the show is going on.

Think the show is great now but i am hoping thay can keep that up.

Last season we saw some pretty flawless pilots, (Stitchers, Zoo, Complications) to name a few. This season literally started on Monday and I've already seen 3 flawless pilots! And perhaps the best of them, is Limitless, based on the 2011 movie by the same name starring Bradley Cooper.

Well, fans of Limitless, Bradley Cooper ... is actually in this show! Reprising his role. I thought that was pretty effing cool. So, if you saw the movie Limitless, you probably thought -- what a fantastic concept, but this movie was a letdown. Or maybe you liked it. But it could have been a lot better. Well, someone had the genius idea to turn it into a procedural TV drama, a format which I believe would have worked much better for the premise from the get go.

Limitless introduces us to a new character, a down on his luck musician and overall nice guy, who is given the NZT drug which, while he's on it,
effectively makes him Lucy, without all the crazy super powers. If you ever saw that show from 10 years ago "John Doe" he's kind of like that. His brain remembers everything its ever experienced, like Mike in Suits, only, instead of using it to pass the bar, he's going to use it to solve crimes and do awesome parkour, and make everyone after him think, how the actual fuc* did this slippery bastard just do that? Its a great concept, hes a really likeable character, and the acting is great. He plays the role of someone who can easily come off as cocky or arrogant with his skillset, but he doesnt. He comes off as someone you actually respect and want to root for. Limitless is fast paced, well-narrated, clever, and really enjoyable.

And best of all, they filmed it in my Building :). I have the screenshot to proove it. Bwahaha.

Go watch this show.
