'Mad Men' to return March 25, says Jon Hamm

Our long national waiting period is over. The return of "Mad Men" is set to return to AMC on March 25.Jon Hamm, who plays Don Draper on the award-winning series, broke the news about the start of Season 5 on the "Doug Loves Movies" podcast. By the time the show hits the air, it will have been a measly 525 days since its last original episode. When last we saw Draper, he had just proposed to Megan (Jessica Pare), and she said yes. But who knows what the future will hold for the happy couple. The new season of the period drama was stalled by drama of its own. Matt Weiner, the show's executive producer, was locked in contract negotiations with AMC and Lionsgate. But they worked out their problems and the show appears to be headed for a series finale after Season 7.AMC didn't confirm the date, but they will likely announce it later this... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/01/mad-men-to-return-march-25-says-jon-hamm.html

'Pan Am': Darren Pettie to guest star

It's not really a "type cast" as much as it in an "era cast" for Darren Pettie. The "Mad Men" actor is set to join the period drama "Pan Am" for a recurring role.EW is reporting that Pettie will play a former WWII pilot named Vince Broyles who apparently has an ego that's out of control. The report goes on to say that Pettie's character is allowed to use a Pan Am plane for personal use and will likely have problems with Dean Lowrey (Mike Vogel).Pettie had periodic appearances in "Mad Men" as Lee Garner, Jr., the son of the owner of Lucky Strike. He also appeared in a few episodes of "Ringer" as Detective Jimmy Kemper.Pettie joins Ashley Greene as planned guest stars on the show.... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/11/pan-am-darren-pettie-to-guest-star.html

Mad Men: AMC Kicks Off Marathon Leading Up to Season 5 Premiere

For a long time, Mad Men  was a show that everyone told me to watch but I never seemed to be able to. Well, that is, until I bought season one on DVD and spent an entire weekend watching it. Now it's undoubtedly one of my favorite shows on television; now I'm the one telling other people to watch. In fact, if you haven't watched Mad Men  yet, consider this me telling you to watch. That's not a big request, considering that AMC has announced that they'll be airing every episode of Mad Men on marathon starting tomorrow and leading up to the season 5 premiere. Every Sunday, starting November 27 at 6am ET, AMC will be playing every episode of Mad Men . Of course, they don't expect you to get up at 6am and watch it then, but if you've been looking to fill your DVR over the holiday season, this is certainly a brilliant starting place. Matthew Weiner: I know how 'Mad Men' will end

"Mad Men" creator Matthew Weiner -- a notorious spoiler-phobe and very protective guardian of the details of his show -- may have spilled his vision for the show's end.Weiner had an on-stage chat with "Curb Your Enthusiasm" star Jeff Garlin at Largo in Los Angeles Friday night (Nov. 11), and Garlin asked if he had an ending in mind for "Mad Men." "I do know how the show ends," Weiner replied. Then, remarkably, he told the audience -- or at least told them how he wants the finale to feel. A writer for Grantland was there and relays Weiner's comments as follows:"I always felt like it would be the experience of human life. And human life has a destination. It doesn't mean Don's gonna die. What I'm looking for, and how I hope to end the show, is like ... It's 2011. Don Draper would be 84 right now. I want to leave the show in... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/11/matthew-weiner-i-know-how-mad-men-will-end.html

'Mad Men' Emmy Winning Streak Continues

'Mad Men' had to watch other dramas take home the acting, directing and writing awards Sunday night, but it still won big at the Emmys. For the fourth year in a row, the AMC drama took home the Best Drama Emmy, and winning didn't appear to have gotten old for the show's ecstatic cast and producers. Surrounded by dozens of producers, writers and cast members from the show, creator Matthew Weiner said, "Oh my goodness. I did not think that was going to happen." //www.aoltv.com/2011/09/18/mad-men-emmy-winning-streak-continues/

'Mad Men' Star John Slattery Coming to 'The Simpsons'

Not everyone in Hollywood really knows each other, but it's pretty darn close. Take, for example, my day on the set of NBC's new sitcom 'Free Agents.' Knowing that they're shooting at the same studios where 'Mad Men' shoots was one thing, but the 'Mad Men' ties don't stop there. I caught up with star Hank Azaria who plays Alex on 'Free Agents' (previews Wed., Sept. 14, 10:30PM ET), a PR exec whose unlucky-in-love personal life starts to bleed into his work life. We talked a lot about the show -- more to come closer to premiere -- but he also had a few tidbits to share about some of the 'Mad Men' cast. The Television Critics Association gave out its annual TCA Awards Saturday night, and 'Mad Men,' 'Game of Thrones' and 'Modern Family' were among the winners. 'Friday Night Lights' was named Program of the Year, and several of the show's actors stood on the stage with executive producer Jason Katims as he gave a heartfelt speech about how hard it was to let the show go after five seasons. 'Game of Thrones' was named Outstanding New Program, 'Mad Men' won as Outstanding Drama and for the second year in a row, 'Modern Family' won as Outstanding Comedy. 'Mad Men' Star to Guest on New CBS Drama 'A Gifted Man'

'Mad Men' actress Cara Buono will guest star on the new CBS drama 'A Gifted Man' this fall. Buono, whom 'Mad Men' fans will recall had a recurring season 4 role as psychologist and advertising consultant Faye Miller, will play a very different kind of professional woman in an October episode of 'A Gifted Man.' Like Miller, her character is self-assured and strong, but on the CBS show, she's a charter-jet pilot who meets neurosurgeon Michael Holt at a cocktail party, and he first thinks she may have carpal-tunnel syndrome but finds that there may be more going on. The medical drama 'A Gifted Man' is one of my favorite pilots for fall. You might find that surprising, given the description of the show, which could be summed up -- without giving too much away -- in this way: "Top New York doctor has a very unusual relationship with his ex-wife." //www.aoltv.com/2011/08/05/exclusive-mad-men-star-cara-buono-a-gifted-man/
