How did this happen? Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage all had amazing introductions. Daredevil's action scenes are incredible, Jessica Jones is such a captivatingly-flawed character, and Luke Cage was dripping with style and depth. So how did Iron fist fail on all three of those?

The fight scenes are hammy, Danny Rand is about as interesting as a wet pretzel, and the storyline is so full of problems that it felt like I was watching two T-ball teams face off in the World Series. No, I take that back, because that would be cute.

I'm going to give Finn Jones the benefit of the doubt and blame the awful writing. That's easy enough because the writing sucks throughout the entirety of Iron Fist, and it's almost like they didn't even try to make it good. I'd go into specifics, but it's just so bad that I don't have the energy.

But the worst part is that Danny Rand is completely unlikable. He's immature and stupid, makes all the wrong choices, and he's almost got a comedic level of timing except it's not supposed to be funny. He tells us over and over that he's the Immortal Iron Fist who trained his whole life to destroy The Hand, but he's a terrible fighter who's always getting the crap beat out of him. He tells us he's got complete control over himself, but he loses his temper like a child having a tantrum and always looks like he's one second away from crying.

This show is terrible, and I'm officially putting myself out there. Marvel, if you decide to continue with Iron Fist Season 2, let me write it for you. I'll be a whole lot cheaper than whoever you're paying now, and it wouldn't take much at all for me to write a more compelling show than this garbage. I could probably do it over the weekend. And no, I'm not a professional writer, but if the writers who brought us Iron Fist are professionals, then I'm pretty confident about my skills.
