Review of Narcos

Fridays, 3:00 AM ET on Netflix

60 minutes

Narcos chronicles the gripping real-life stories of the drug kingpins of the late 1980s and the corroborative efforts of law enforcement to meet them head on in brutal, bloody conflict. It details the conflicting forces - legal, political, police, military and civilian - that clash in an effort to control the world's most powerful commodity: cocaine.

Oh WOW! This show is SOOOOOO good. I am finally watching this one month after it was released and it is excellent. The story of Pablo Escobar has been told many times because it is such a fascinating yet equally horrible story and Netflix did a great job from the very high production quality to the blending of real life documentary footage. There seems to be only one complaint from Colombians regarding the accents being off, but I'm not Colombian, so for me the complaint about the accents doesn't bother me, though it would if I were able to discern regional Spanish accents. If you haven't watched this yet, what are you waiting for?
I'm very interested to see Season 2, because the series has progressed quite quickly and if you know the real life history, they have already told so much of the story that I fear Season 2 won't be as good if they try to artificially prolong it with too much fictionalized drama instead of leaning more on historical accuracy because so far the truth of the story is the more compelling part. What a horrible man.

I thought season 2 was great! Fortunately it was not artificially prolonged. The life story of Pablo Escobar is told with just a few fictional arcs for dramatic purposes and legal purposes, but they do stick to the truth when it comes to the more significant historical events. I did find that I needed to watch the very last episode of season 1 to refresh my memory as to where things left off. Let me know how you liked it!

You're welcome... you have perfect timing, I was on vacation and just came back so I've been on Sidereel catching up on all the shows I've missed :) I saw the promo for Queen Sugar and meant to add it to my list, I just did, thanks for the recommendation!
