Greg Berlanti sells cop drama 'Golden Boy' to CBS, collaborates with 'NYPD Blue' writer

Producer, writer and director Greg Berlanti shows no signs of growing less prolific. Just three weeks after his legal pilot, "Guilty," landed at FOX, THR reports the "Everwood" and "No Ordinary Family" creator has sold another drama to CBS. A cop series, currently called "Golden Boy," the project follows an ambitious twenty-something detective rising quickly in the ranks. It's also being described as "The Good Wife" with a young police officer. Writer Nick Wootten, who got his start on "NYPD Blue" before working on series such as "Chuck," "Prison Break" and "Law & Order," will pen the pilot. CBS gave "Golden Boy" a put-pilot commitment, meaning once the script is in, it will be shot and likely make it to air -- lest the network pay significant penalty fees. "Golden Boy" is the latest project under Berlanti's apparently fruitful deal with Warner Bros. Television, which will produce alongside his own Berlanti Productions.... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/08/greg-berlanti-sells-cop-drama-golden-boy-to-cbs-collaborates-with-nypd-blue-writer.html

'No Ordinary Family' star Julie Benz joins CBS pilot

Julie Benz has followed her "No Ordinary Family" co-star Michael Chiklis into the pilot-season fray, signaling further bad news for the ABC series.Like Chiklis, who's starring in CBS' comedy "Vince Uncensored," Benz has signed on to a pilot at the Eye, although hers is a drama. The untitled show stars Patrick Wilson as a surgeon who's trying to re-order his life -- with help from his late wife (Jennifer Ehle of "The King's Speech"), who communicates with him from the afterlife. Benz will play Wilson's sister, a single mother who has myriad issues of her own, Deadline reports. The CBS project (from "Erin Brockovich" and "The Soloist" screenwriter Susannah Grant) is in second position to "No Ordinary Family" for Benz, so if both were to make the schedule next season she'd be obligated to return to ABC.
