Catherine doesn’t want to talk to Mac about their ‘close encounter’. Mac feels under pressure financially; Jo wants Noah to go to a private school and business is quiet. He has a boozy lunch with Brian where he meets Cory boasting about his pitch to a big tel/co company; Telto. Cory’s pitch involves doves and Mac omits to mention that the head of marketing has a bird phobia. He proposes Illuminator to Sandy, and after Cory’s pitch goes horribly wrong, she agrees to let him pitch. Smuge is worried it’s too big for them, but they win the contract. Brian has work concerns of his own and when he returns from his boozy lunch, Emma tells him she is pregnant. He responds by throwing up. Brian tries to find work but learns another plumber has poached his customers – and is calling himself Barry King! The competitor is Chinese and Brian accuses him of stealing his name. He also feels financial pressure when he learns that Emma has big debts. He freaks when Mac and Smudge tease him that soon Emma will own half his house too. He suggests some kind of agreement so he’s covered if they split up. Emma is hurt but agrees. Michelle is furious on her friend’s behalf, all the more so when Emma reveals she is pregnant. This leads to a show down at the Beagle between Brian and Michelle, but they are interrupted when a drunken Cory arrives, accuses Mac of stealing his account, and takes a swing at him. Cory misses and hits Emma instead so Brian decks Cory. Michelle is impressed with this new, more ruthless Mac, but Catherine is not. She learns Cory has been fired. Brian and Emma agree they are both freaked out by the idea of having a baby but resolve to make it work.
