TV ratings: 'Under the Dome' opens strong and Stanley Cup scores for NBC Monday

Fast National ratings for Monday, June 24, 2013CBS packed a lot of people "Under the Dome" Monday, as the premiere of the series based on Stephen King's novel opened to more viewers than any summer series since 2007. It was big enough, to give CBS a win in viewers for the night, but the adults 18-49 honors go to NBC thanks to Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals, which saw the Chicago Blackhawks win the Cup. "The Bachelorette" also rose for ABC, hitting a season high in viewers and matching its best performance in the 18-49 demographic.CBS drew 8.2 million viewers and a 5.2 rating/9 share in households in primetime. NBC (7.9 million, 4.6/7) finished a close second, pending updates for the live hockey telecast. ABC (5.3 million, 3.8/6) came in third. 'Oh Sit!' and 'Breaking Pointe' renewed for Season 2 by The CW

The CW's summer reality experiment went well, because the network is bringing back two of its unscripted series for new seasons. Both the "Wipeout"-style musical chairs competition "Oh Sit!" and the ballet docuseries "Breaking Pointe" have been renewed for Season 2.The network hasn't announced premiere dates for the new seasons, so you'll have to wait a little longer to find out when you'll be able to watch 12 people run through obstacle courses in an attempt to grab a seat and a cash prize.PHOTOS: What to expect from fall TV"Breaking Pointe" follows Salt Lake City's competitive Ballet West company as its dancers attempt to become the Prima Ballerina and Premier Danseur. Fast National ratings for Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012Ratings for "The X Factor" improved some Wednesday over last week's modest premiere, giving FOX a demographic victory for the night. The premiere of "Survivor: Philippines" on CBS, meanwhile, improved on its total-viewer numbers from both of last season's premieres -- although it was down a bit in adults 18-49 -- and beat "The X Factor" head-to-head in viewers. The "Big Brother" season finale was off a bit from last year, though.FOX brought in 9.4 million viewers and a 5.5 rating/9 share in households for the night, narrowly beating CBS (9.3 million, 5.5/9) for the top spot. TV Ratings: 'X Factor' premiere down, loses to 'The Voice' and 'America's Got Talent' in viewers

Fast National ratings for Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012"The X Factor" Season 2 premiere averaged 8.5 million viewers, down over 3.5 million from last year's premiere. And it turns out Simon Cowell was right to be irritated about going up against "The Voice" -- NBC's singing competition program beat FOX's singing competition program by over 3 million viewers. Once "The Voice" was off the air, "X Factor" did fare better against the "America's Got Talent" finals, only trailing by 1.5 million. The "AGT" finals were up over 2 million viewers over the previous week, but were down 2 million viewers over the 2011 finals.Also on NBC, the series premiere of "Guys With Kids" lost a good bit of its lead-in from "AGT," earning 6.3 million viewers.NBC averaged 8.9 million viewers and a 5.6 rating/9 share in households, with FOX hot on its heels with 8.5 million and a 5.2/8. Fast National ratings for Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012The kickoff to the NFL season didn't score ratings quite as big as it did last year, but Wednesday night's game between the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants was still a big winner for NBC.Despite the big numbers for the NFL game, "Big Brother" and "So You Think You Can Dance" held up reasonably well for CBS and FOX. NBC averaged 20.6 million viewers and a 12.7 rating/20 share in households in primetime, numbers that will likely go up some when the live telecast is taken into account. But as things stand now, "America's Got Talent" and "Big Brother" both posted gains over last week. "So You Think You Can Dance" was also up a little for FOX.NBC averaged 6.5 million viewers and a 4.2 rating/7 share in households for the night, leading CBS (5 million, 3.4/5) by a comfortable margin. Fast National ratings for Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012FOX aired an NFL preseason game in primetime Thursday night, giving the network a boost over its usual summer numbers. NFL games in a few local markets also gave a bump to NBC and CBS.
