'One Tree Hill': Mark Schwahn talks Rachel's future, plus that other unanswered question

"One Tree Hill" ended almost two months ago, but we're still not really over it. This weekend, Zap2it attended the ATX Festival, a weekend-long celebration of all things television in Austin, Texas. While we managed to resist presenting executive producer Mark Schwahn with a mason jar filled with our finale tears, we couldn't help but ask him about a few of the show's loose ends. One of our favorite secondary characters of the series, Rachel (Danneel Ackles), wasn't mentioned in the final season, despite her significant contribution to the Tree Hill mythology. Though she did go through an unfortunate junkie phase, Schwahn tells us that in his mind, Rachel landed on her feet. "Rachel's obviously fine," Schwahn promises. "She's always going to be fine. She's very crafty, and yet, she has a good heart and she's in great shape." In fact, had things ended differently for Dan Scott, we may have seen more of Rachel in... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/06/one-tree-hill-mark-schwahn-talks-rachels-future-plus-that-other-unanswered-question.html

'One Tree Hill' series finale ratings highest of the season

This morning, "One Tree Hill" fans woke up to our equivalent of a post-apocalyptic landscape: For the first time in nine years, there are no new "One Tree Hill" episodes to look forward to. Are there support groups for this?At least we know we're not alone. The ratings for the series finale were the highest of the season, matching season high Wednesday night ratings in adults 18-34 (0.9/3), adults 18-49 (0.8/2) and women 18-49 (1.1/3). In the CW's target demographic, women 18-34, the two-hour "One Tree Hill" goodbye posted the best numbers since February 23, 2011.According to The CW's press release, "Versus Wednesday of this same week last year, last night was up 50% in adults 18-34, 40% in women 18-34 and 33% in adults 18-49. Week to week, last night was up 29% in adults 18-34, 27% in women 18-34 and 14% in adults 18-49."The first hour of the finale event, a series of... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/04/one-tree-hill-series-finale-ratings-highest-of-the-season.html

'One Tree Hill' Finale Brings Tears, Happiness And A Look Back

It was the end of an era on The CW as " One Tree Hill " (Wed., 8 p.m. ET on The CW) closed out a nine year run for the network. The show's even older than the network, having premiered on The WB back in 2003, three years before the UPN-WB merger that created The CW. For the finale, the show harkened back to those WB years with several trips down memory lane as Brooke, Haley and Nathan not only reflected back on their high school days, but actually interacted with their younger selves thanks to some fancy trick editing. It was an effective and emotional use of technology, and a beautiful way to reward long-time fans with a look at how far each of them have come. While everyone got their happy ending, the hour ended with an additional treat by giving fans a peek forward to show that happiness continued to follow them into their future lives as well. It was a sweet gesture and well deserved for all of them, considering how how much they've had to endure the past nine years -- thirteen for the characters. They deserve happiness now. One Tree Hill Comes Full Circle and Says Goodbye

Shows come and go, but every once in a while there's one that sticks with you -- and sometimes you 're not even sure why. In 2003, a little show called One Tree Hill debuted, attempting to fill my deep void from the loss of my beloved Dawson's Creek . From the moment I was introduced to Brooke, Peyton, Lucas and Haley (Nathan had to grow on me), I knew I had made lifelong connections to each of these characters. //www.tvguide.com/News/One-Tree-Hill-Finale-1045614.aspx?rss=breakingnews

'One Tree Hill': Sophia Bush, Bethany Joy Lenz, James Lafferty, and castmates make their next career moves

Tonight we say goodbye to "One Tree Hill" after nine years on the air, but the cast and crew said goodbye in mid-November when picture wrapped on the 187th episode in Wilmington, NC. Now, over four months later, creator Mark Schwahn and the cast we've come to think of as friends have moved on to new projects. We realize that emotions are still raw right now, but when you're ready -- here's where you can find those familiar faces.Mark Schwahn: Schwahn is currently back in North Carolina overseeing production on his pilot, "Shelter," which is a contender for The CW's Fall 2012 schedule. The pilot, which he's executive producing with J.J. Abrams, will certainly appeal to "One Tree Hill" fans -- it's an old-school WB feel, an undeniable earnestness, and the same themes of hope and friendship that we saw on OTH. James Lafferty: "I'm waiting for a new film that I did to come out,"... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/04/one-tree-hill-sophia-bush-bethany-joy-lenz-james-lafferty-and-castmates-make-their-next-career-moves.html

'One Tree Hill': Where's Whitey? Mark Schwahn spills on Coach Durham's life post-Ravens

"One Tree Hill" will bow out in a two-hour farewell event on Wednesday -- at least, for the time being. Several familiar faces, like Dan Scott (Paul Johansson) and Chris Keller (Tyler Hilton), returned for the final season. Even more old pals will be seen in Wednesday's series finale. One person who we haven't checked on for a while, though, is Coach Whitey Durham. We caught up with executive producer Mark Schwahn for one last talk about the show, which, through nine seasons, has spanned over 15 years of its characters' lives. Of course, we had to ask him about our favorite crotchety old coach. Barry Corbin played the role to perfection in the first four seasons of the series -- guiding the kids (and their parents) with an alternately gentle hand and iron fist. The last time we saw him was in Season 6, when Dan visited him on his ranch and begged Whitey... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/04/one-tree-hill-wheres-whitey-mark-schwahn-spills-on-coach-durhams-life-post-ravens.html

'One Tree Hill' series finale: Brooke returns to Peyton's room in a 'love letter to the fans'

On Wednesday, "One Tree Hill" fans will watch the series finale -- almost exactly ten years after the cast and crew first gathered to film the pilot episode. Series creator and executive producer Mark Schwahn, who has been along for the ride the entire way, filmed a short preview. It's a testament to the characters he created that we nearly started crying just watching it."It's episode number 187, it's our series finale, and it's called 'One Tree Hill,'" says Schwahn, who both wrote and directed the episode, which centers around the ten-year anniversary of the opening of Tric nightclub, a focal location over the course of the show. Appropriately, Gavin DeGraw -- whose career was launched when his song was chosen as the theme song in 2003 -- will perform, as will series vet Bethany Joy Lenz."We all enjoyed making this show. We all felt like it was the greatest opportunity; we were all lucky... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/03/one-tree-hill-series-finale-brooke-returns-to-peytons-room-in-a-love-letter-to-the-fans.html
