Review of Outlander

Sundays, 8:00 PM ET on Starz

60 minutes

The “Outlander” series spans the genres of romance, science fiction, history, and adventure in one grandiose tale. It follows the story of Claire Randall, a married combat nurse from 1945 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743, where she is immediately thrown into an unknown world where her life is threatened. When she is forced to marry Jamie Fraser, a chivalrous and romantic young Scottish warrior, a passionate affair is ignited that tears Claire’s heart between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.

I have come into this party rather late. So I have only finished watching both series broadcast over 3 years in ....6 days! And I have lost my ability to sleep because the only thing I think is about this amazing love story which is portrayed with such an emotional intensity that takes your breath away. The scene that plays continually in my mind is when Jamie tells Claire about his rape, his ultimate surrender and feelings of shame, betrayal and relief. Outstanding performances from all cast especially that of Black Jack Randall. Not to say that the leading duo lags behind, not only they are great they share a very believable intimate rapport . Can't wait for season 3 and 4 !!!
