Following a series of racist tweets made by star Roseanne Barr, ABC has scrapped Season 11 of the massively popular revival.

As someone on Twitter said, "All Roseanne had to do is not be racist." Apparently, she doesn't have that kind of control. Too bad. It was good to have it back.

Shame on her! Because of her idiocy, so many people lost their jobs, so many fans lost what they wanted. Good job ABC for taking quick action!

At least one cast member and one writer has said they were quitting. Even if Fox were to pick it up, there's a big question about whether it would like anything like it does now.

Whatever happens, ABC has given a great example of how a network should react in face of such horrible actions. Tbh I was surprised that it happened so quickly.

There is a guy in sports named Colin Cowherd who word
Is for Fox Sports 1 and bas a show called The Herd and Speak For Yourself with Jason Whitlock who says yuhave to b self aware at all times. A woman recently got let go from her job b4 starting it for saying she didn’t like babysitting companies on Facebook when she was about to get that same job. Some ppl will never change and Roseanne is one of them. It did well for the network but she had to realize that she not only works for ABC but Disney as well. This is y ESPN takes their things seriously as well. This is y ppl say watch what yu do on the internet especially on Social Media. I didn’t watch this show but I saw it was doing well. I did watch 18 episodes of the original. Feel bad for those employees let go like this. I don’t feel bad for Roseanne. She should apologize to every last person that worked on that show. I think every show needs a social media person to just have their teeets sent to to make sure everything will b fine afterwards. Shows like this could continue and everyone would still b happy.

Mr. Bowen - Mr. Trump shouldn't be doing it. Roseanne was fired by her employee, not charged criminally by our government. Her free speech was not abridged. She is not free from repercussions for what she says from non-governmental sources.

Damn. I really liked the show, kinda thought it had more anti-Trump tunes than pro-Trump with Roseanne Barr just to short sighted to notice. Plus the show cent dressing a whole lot of things going wrong in the US, from substance abuse provoked by prescribing pain meds rather than taking action to cure the causes of pain, to what people are willing to subject themselves to just to have basic health care... It could have gone a long way.
And yet I'm more happy about the fact that Mz Barr's comments had serious and immediate consequences, than I would have been about a new season under such circumstances.

I am all for free speech and someone making jokes, and in spite of her being a trump supporter, the new season was really good. It never skipped a beat and had the same dry humor. And even had diversity- everyone forgets that the show roseanne had openly gay characters on the show and adressed things like racism long before.
But even this... why roseanne did you have to ruin it for the people who needed this show in such dark times?
So much dissappointment.

Fox picking up Roseanne? Disney is in the middle of buying out Fox, so that's not happening. Logged in to specifically add how stupid can this woman be? She impacted her co-stars' livelihood. The last time her tv son "DJ" worked on a show was in 1993 when the original Roseanne went off the air!

Sad she made an racist outburst. Thats just plain dumb. She ruined it for everybody else... Cast and fans alike - I really liked the revival. Oh well - It was fun while it lasted.

Come on! You know only the leftist snowflakes can be racist and woman hating. I mean, one of their patriarchs, Weinstein is a hardcore leftist. Roseann was the same way during her first tour, but people didn't carry their hearts on their sleeves as much then either. Obama said, "They can come but have to ride in the back of the bus." and that was ok. Hillary made some of the most the most vial, hateful, racist things about Obama (including his citizenship) and that was ok. Why? Because they are Democrats. The religion of peace. When people wake up and take back what is theirs, For the people, by the people, it will get a tad better. Until then, the leftist agenda will rule the air waves.

I have never watched an episode of the revival, but I know Roseanne. She's been doing the same shtick for her entire career. Now, she offends the snowflakes at ABC? What about the time Roseanne grabbed her crotch at the end of the national anthem during a ballgame, kids where in attendance at the park and watching at home, did she get canned then? No. It's like my grand pappy always used to say: Fvck 'em if they can't take a joke! And------scene.

Barr is a racist though, with a history of racist comments, so you cannot make blaming pills, or saying it is a one off, as an excuse.

As for those on here defending her, it's 2018, race should not matter.
Ironic how the same people who say "it's ok to make racist jokes", yet if you singled these racists out for say smoking or drinking, and told them they were only allowed to smoke/drink in a certain area, they would be the first to complain, over something so small (to a point where they would be holding meetings, rebelling etc), and yet African Americans, Native Americans, muslims etc have suffered so much humiliation, bullying and racism etc.

Barr elicited criticism in July 2009 when she posed as Adolf Hitler in a feature for the satirical Jewish publication Heeb magazine, called "That Oven Feelin'". The Nazi theme was reportedly her suggestion, and featured her with a Hitler mustache and swastika arm-band, holding a tray of burnt gingerbread man cookies the article referred to as "burnt Jew cookies".

She is also obsessed with calling various people Nazi's, which in it's own right, degrades & moks those who suffered during WW2.

But hey ho, instead of stamping out racism, let's build a wall instead.

Interesting comments on this thread. I think what people need to realize is that Rosanne does have the right and free speech privileges to say whatever she wants on social media, however, while she can say whatever she wants, she also has to face the repercussions of what she says. And yes, a lot of people talk terribly about Trump - myself included because he's a sad excuse for a person - but the decision to cancel the show falls on her employer. Just like at any job, if you do something out of line with the company's core values (whether you agree with them or not) you will be let go. The fact that other people talk about racism and joke poorly about has nothing to do with it. It's really a common sense topic taught in business 101 - don't bite the hand that feeds you.

People keep mentioning "Free Speech". The First Amendment was established to help promote the free exchange of ideas and to provide a form of redress to citizens against their government. It wasn't established so that people can bully and harass other people or races, whether written or verbally.

Why you all forget though when it comes to "racist humour" is, people take it literally and act upon it.
She is a celebrity with a lot of influence on other people, and role models too others. If they see that people find her racist comments funny, people, especially those with a low IQ, end up violently acting upon it.

A little "joke" can turn into action, in which someone eventually gets hurt

Firstly, this thread has gone too political and should be closed by moderators. Secondly, No. Sam's comments do not reach the level of Rosanne's racism. There is a difference between being a racist and making what might seem to some as an offensive comment. Both can cross a line, but one of them crosses the line much further, to a level which should not be accepted by modern educated society.

Trump is often compared to an Orangutan by Jimmy Fallon, or Kimmel, one of those guys, and no one said that’s racist. Valerie Jarrett isn’t African-American, she’s Iranian. That’s not a race. Islam isn’t a race either. This is a case of the Left getting super offended that Roseanne made a joke about Jarrett even though they dish it out plenty with the horrendous things they all say about President Trump. So they retaliate, like fascist hypocrites that they are. If comparing a white man to an orangutan isn’t racist, how is comparing a middle eastern woman to an ape racist? How is it racist to compare any race to an ape since we all descend from them? If it’s racist to call a Black person an ape, then it’s racist to call a white person an Orangutan. Neither can be true, neither is inherently derogatory without the racist intention of the person making the comparison.

Encyclopedia Brittanica: "Censorship, the changing or the suppression or prohibition of speech or writing that is deemed subversive of the common good. It occurs in all manifestations of authority to some degree, but in modern times it has been of special importance in its relation to government and the rule of law."

When I swore as a child, my mom washed my mouth out with soap. You may call this abusive, but most wouldn't call it censorship. If I were to tell my boss to "f" off, people would laugh if I suggested I was being censored and would tell me I got what I deserved. If I badmouthed my employer's product/business outside of work and was fired, most would not call it censorship. Again, people would tell me I got what I deserved.

Roseanne was FIRED, she wasn't censored!
