Coldplay brings 'Paradise' to 'Saturday Night Live'

Emma Stone wasn't the only one visiting "Saturday Night Live" this weekend (Nov. 12). British alterna-rockers Coldplay (you may remember them as the band fronted by Gwyneth Paltrow's husband, Chris Martin) stopped by to perform a couple songs from their latest album, "Mylo Xyloto."First up was the melancholy single "Paradise," with Martin leading on piano. The performance kicks off at about minute 25:28 in the video above. Not exactly a rousing rock anthem, but we're sure it made good background music for set changes and bathroom breaks. Be sure to check out their neato glow-in-the-dark graffiti stage. The band also performed its other new-ish single, "Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall," the title of which makes us simultaneously think of TLC's "Don't Go Chasing Waterfalls" and John Mayer's "Your Body is a Wonderland." -- so, umm, not a good sign. But the song turned out to actually be pretty cool, so we'll forgive them the title. Also, they... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/11/coldplay-brings-paradise-to-saturday-night-live.html

'Saturday Night Live': Emma Stone and Coldplay bring the funny

Emma Stone made made her second appearance as "Saturday Night Live" guest host this weekend (Nov. 12) and we're really glad Stone, who knows a thing or two about comic timing, came back. In Emma's opening monologue she's visited by not just one, but two Spider Men: Andrew Garfield and Andy Samberg. Guess which one delivers the line: "Sorry Gwen, I don't have time to bone. I have to fight Green Goblin. Oh wait, Green Goblin just canceled, we can bone now."Next up, Bill Hader hosts "Secret Word" -- the game celebrities play at home. In 1964. Then Hader returns as veteran local newsman Herb Welch, reporting live from the scene of an apartment building where ice is apparently falling off the roof: We also got a new digital short from Adam Sandberg. In "Wish it Would Rain," Samberg plays a Michael Bolton-esque singer who uses his video shoot as an opportunity to vent.... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/11/saturday-night-live-emma-stone-and-coldplay-bring-the-funny.html

‘Saturday Night Live’ Sends Up Rick Perry

Last night’s "Saturday Night Live" featured host Emma Stone, musical guests Coldplay…and of course a skit about Texas Governor Rick Perry suffering brain freeze during the GOP debates. Perry’s mistake was a hard one to send up in a sketch because the moment itself was so surreal (SNL’s Bill Hader played the candidate). It’s interesting that the humorists  at SNL spent more time on the Perry incident than on the allegations of sexual impropriety that have dogged Herman Cain’s campaign. Watch the clip. Did SNL manage to squeeze more humor from the incident? Read More... //blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2011/11/13/saturday-night-live-sends-up-rick-perry/?mod=WSJBlog

'Saturday Night Live': 'Hi, I'm SNL and I'm hosting Emma Stone this week'

Emma Stone is back hosting "Saturday Night Live" this coming Saturday (Nov. 12) with musical guest Coldplay. Check out these promos the comedian taped with "SNL" cast member Fred Armisen. We like the one where she speeds up and slows down - from the power of her mind. And the one where they just say each other's names a lot. And the last one is kinda funny. Heck, we like them all because how can you not love every single thing Emma Stone does, ever? This will be the second time host SNL for the just-turned 23-year-old. Her first time hosting was Oct. 23, 2010. Not too shabby for Hollywood's latest It Girl.... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/11/saturday-night-live-hi-im-snl-and-im-hosting-emma-stone-this-week.html

'Saturday Night Live' Pokes Fun at Drake's Sweater Obsession (Video)

Rapper-actor  Drake  had no problem poking fun of himself on the Oct. 15 edition of  Saturday Night Live . In one of the NBC show's digital shorts, the former  Degrassi: The Next Generation  star and  Andy Samberg  went through a number of "interviews," touching on everything from Drake's admitted sweater obsession (he has said he owns 1,000 of them) to joking about his sexual orientation. "A Matching Sweaters Interview With Drake" showed the two in multi-colored, '90s flavored sweaters. "An Extremely Close Interview With Drake" focused on their mouths and teeth. "A Wordless Seduction of Drake" had Samberg flirting with Drake with them both declaring at the end of the segment that they were not into men.
