Okay, being a fan of the film series, I was going into this thinking this was going to be bad.. BUT! I was surprised, iv'e
found myself thinking of this as a re-imagining of the films
and they've put a "Friday the 13th" and "Pretty Little Liars" twist into it.

The NEW scream mask looks more FREAKY than the one in the films and the killer(s) seems to be more calculative than the ones in the films also.

You have your typical character placements.. such as the teen who knows everything about horror flicks and how the rules apply, the group of friends, the bitches, the loners, the drop dead gorgeous perfect skin toned girls AND GUYS! basically EVERYTHING what MTV caters for.

My view on episode 1 is it was pretty good but could have been better, and I also mean gorier, id rate it probably 7/10.. Let's just hope it gets better and just doesn't lose itself in the multiple stories it seems to have and leaves us all confused and HUH?

Just wrote all this.. and I just realized.. I should have just summed the whole show up as.. "A mix between "Friday the 13th" and "Pretty Little Liars" and given the "Scream" name.

Season 1: 8.5/10
Season 2:

I didn't think the concept was going to work as a tv show, but surprisingly enough it does. Because there is a longer period of time going by, the suspense gets higher. Who will be next is not as easy to answer as it is in the movies.

If you like high school drama with a little terror on the side, than this show is for you!

MTV's remake Scream is a fantastic series. As a reboot or standalone, the show was entertaining to watch. The acting is mostly on point and the gore is pretty well done if not a bit lacking. But most importantly, this show is entertaining. If you like horror cliches, meta humor, other MTV shows, or horror teen shows, you'll like it.

SCREAM: Sydney is probably the killer to try and end this awful show and save the legacy of the original films. It's so bad I even had to deviate from my "in 5 words" review formula.

However this may sound, I actually liked this Tv-serie more than the actual movie.
I CAN'T WAIT for the continue!

I just don't know. I don't hate it, but I don't love it, so I'm giving it a couple more episodes to see if it grabs me. I have to remind myself that I wasn't immediately sold on The Vampire Diaries and Teen Wolf, either, but now I love those shows.

Like most, I started the pilot skeptic at best. Horror's not really my thing, movie to tv - ugg, an mtv show. However, despite having a litany of apprehensions, I cannot wait to watch the next episode. This pilot is solid, and I want more.

The thing I like the most about this show is it's self awareness. Something which hearkens to the movie. It's kind of refreshing. The show is keenly aware of the tropes and situations, and plays with that knowledge and with you the viewer.

In spite of all the impossibly pretty 20-somethings pretending to be 16/17, I found myself on the edge of my seat. Even though I am not the one for slashers - I haven't even seen Halloween, Friday the 13th, Texas Chainsaw or even Saw - I found the gore palatable. It's on the same level as walking dead.

Just watch it. I know I will.

Thanks MTV for ruining what could have been a great tv show, and making it just another teen's tv show!
Big nay on this one!
