Review of Shameless (US)

Sundays, 9:00 PM ET on Showtime

60 minutes

Based on a long-running British drama, Shameless stars William H. Macy as the alcoholic patriarch of a big blue-collar family in Chicago, the Gallaghers. The mother is AWOL, and with the alcoholic patriarch (Macy) usually passed out on the living-room floor, their smart but unpredictable 18-year-old daughter, Fiona (Rossum), is tasked with keeping her five younger brothers and sisters on the straight and narrow.

Never have and never will come across any other comedy/drama show that keeps me entertained every second of every episode, watching these characters in their perpetual dysfunctional lives is congenial ..the story arcs are so deliberately laid-out and hilarious, often concluding on an emotional note. We've seen many good shows perish after 5-6 years in its run but here's an exception, which is great for the fans.

P.S. damn, the name of this show does personify & aptly relate to simply how shameless these people are.
