SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE host Cat Deeley got some good news this week: she was nominated for Choice TV Personality – Female at the 2013 Teen Choice Awards! 'SYTYCD' Scoop: Early Favorites & Emmy Predictions

" So You Think You Can Dance " (Wednesdays, 8 p.m. ET on Fox) might only be airing one night a week this season, instead of the usual two nights, but that's not such a bad thing. I caught up with judge Mary Murphy and Emmy-nominated host Cat Deeley to talk about Season 9, their early favorites and their plans come Emmy night (the show is also nominated for the second year in a row for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program), including the surprising fellow nominee that Deeley thinks might have a streaking streak in them. 'So You Think You Can Dance': Amber and Brandon head home

The new format of "So You Think You Can Dance" is a little incongruous in that dancers who give amazing performances can end up in the bottom six just minutes later for a bum performance they gave a week ago. Luckily, the judges saved her to dance another week, instead sending Amber and Brandon home. The lovely and dance-smart Christina Applegate joined the judges' panel for this show -- the last before a two-week Olympic hiatus (not sure why since the Olympics will be carried on NBC, but anyway). The best thing about Applegate is that unlike some other celebrity guest judges she neither pretends to know everything about dance nor turns each opportunity to talk into a punchline."On the parts that were slow, soupier," she says when trying to describe... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/07/so-you-think-you-can-dance-amber-and-brandon-head-home.html

'So You Think You Can Dance': Nigel Lythgoe talks Season 9 changes

"So You Think You Can Dance" executive producer Nigel Lythgoe spoke with the press at the Television Critics Association panel Monday morning (July 23), talking about the Season 9 changes, particularly the show moving to two winners. "I have no idea really why we never did that in the first place," says Lythgoe. "It just makes so much sense because guys do dance more athletically than girls. Having said that, the girls nowadays are just stunning. They're warriors." Lythgoe also addresses a different tactic the judges took with Season 9, in picking dancers who maybe aren't able to excel within every genre. "I think we became very brave this year with where we were. We said OK, we're not just going to take dancers this season who we believe can take everything we throw at them," says Lythgoe. "They will be great in the genre they're great in ... the idea was they have gotta... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/07/so-you-think-you-can-dance-nigel-lythgoe-talks-season-9-changes.html
