City Dad Meets Suburban Mom, Thinks Her Too Trusting on 'Suburgatory' (VIDEO)

'Suburgatory' (Wed., 8:30PM ET on ABC) follows the perhaps rash decision of single father to move his daughter from the bright lights of Manhattan to the suburbs. But this surreal little community is more like a cross between 'The Stepford Wives' and 'Edward Scissorhands' than any real suburban neighborhood. Teenager daughter Tessa is understandably freaked out and uncomfortable in her new environment, but it's nice to see that the writers haven't forgotten that her father George would be just as out of place. We loved both of them freaking out over how quiet it is at night. //www.aoltv.com/2011/09/29/city-dad-meets-suburban-mom-too-trusting-suburgatory-video/

'Suburgatory': Will you return to the 'burbs with Tessa?

So, we've been in the tank for "Suburgatory" pretty much since it was previewed at the upfronts in May. Now that you've seen it, what do you think? As we said in our review, the father-daughter relationship between George (Jeremy Sisto) and Tessa (Jane Levy) has real promise, and both actors are great at showing their bemusement (or outright bewilderment) at life in suburbia.Levy's bone-dry delivery even reminds us a little of another disaffected, combat-boot-wearing teenager: Daria Morgendorfer. There's no annoying sister, and parental figure George is more benignly clueless and well-meaning than Daria's folks were, but there's potential for "Suburgatory" to be as sharp a comedy as "Daria" was. What say you? Will "Suburgatory" keep you hanging around between "The Middle" and "Modern Family" this season?... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/09/suburgatory-will-you-return-to-the-burbs-with-tessa.html

SUBURGATORY “Pilot” Episode 1

SUBURGATORY  "Pilot" Episode 1 airs Wednesday, September 28 (8:30-9:00 p.m., ET) on ABC. Episode Synopsis:  In the premiere episode, "Pilot," Tessa (Jane Levy) and George (Jeremy Sisto) have been on their own ever since Tessa’s mom pulled a "Kramer vs. Kramer." So far George has done a pretty good job of raising Tessa without a maternal figure in their lives, but suddenly he’s feeling a little out of his league, especially after he finds a pack of condoms in her room. So it’s goodbye New York City and hello suburbs. At first Tessa is horrified by the big-haired, fake-boobed mothers and their sugar-free, Red Bull-chugging kids. But little by little, she and her dad begin to find a way to survive on the clean streets of the ‘burbs. Sure, the neighbors might smother you with love while their kids stare daggers at your back, but underneath all that plastic and caffeine, they’re really not half bad. Being in the ‘burbs can be hell, but it also may just bring Tessa and George closer than they’ve ever been, on "Suburgatory," an all-new comedy premiering WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 28 (8:30-9:00 p.m., ET) on ABC.
