'The American Baking Competition' premiere: Did CBS whisk up a summer hit?

CBS debuted a new cooking competition show called "The American Baking Competition" Wednesday night (May 29). The program features 10 bakers competing in three different bake-offs each week, which proved quite interesting in the first episode, titled "Pies and Tarts."The first bake is the Signature Bake, which each week will feature a recipe each baker is very comfortable with. For the pie premiere, we saw everything from apple and sweet potato pies to maple bourbon chocolate pecan pie and chocolate peanut butter bacon pie, the last of which the judges liked in spite of themselves. The second bake each week is the Technical Bake, which gives all 10 bakers the same recipe, but with key instructions missing.
