Video Preview of The Cape's Deadly Series Finale

Several months ago, The Cape 's creator, Tom Wheeler, clued me in that he planned to kill off a series regular in his first season finale. Then ratings fell, NBC cut the show order from 13 to 10 episodes, and now the season finale appears to be the series finale. But for those loyal Cape fans out there, there will still be a significant death before the Cape hangs it up for good. The concluding chapter will be available for viewing at  //   beginning at midnight tonight, Friday, March 11. Read More... //

'The Cape' finale will air online

"The Cape" ended its on-air run on Monday (Feb. 28), even though it still has one more episode left to air. You'll still get to see that episode -- you'll just have to watch it on a somewhat smaller screen. As reported by TV Series Finale, the 10th and last episode of "The Cape's" first season will debut online sometime this month.A note on the show's page at reads, "The creators of 'The Cape' are prepping an exclusive episode just for online fans! Keep watching this site in the days ahead to see a full-length special episode."Prospects for "The Cape's" return for a second season were fairly dim anyway, and moving the final episode off-air doesn't brighten them any. NBC had initially planned to air two episodes of the show on Monday, but its meager ratings (just 4.1 million viewers and a 1.2 rating among adults 18-49 this week) led the network to decide... //

CBS was right behind at 3.0, followed by FOX at 2.8. NBC slipped slightly from last week and finished with a 1.5. The CW scored... //

'The Cape' finds its stride ... too late?

The two-part story that concluded Monday (Feb. 21) on "The Cape" was maybe the show's strongest to date. We just wonder if it's going to matter in a couple months' time."The Lich" story, which concluded in Monday's episode, did a lot of things you would want from a first-year show at this stage: It broadened the scope of the action by incorporating some Palm City history. It made the stakes extremely high for two of its lead characters: Vince (David Lyons) risked exposure by turning to Dana (Jennifer Ferrin) for help on a case, and Orwell (Summer Glau) was literally in a life-or-death situation. It also gave some insight into Orwell's past -- her drugged-out haze might not be completely reliable, but at the very least it provided a lot more weight for the theory (which we've floated before) that Orwell is Peter Fleming's (James Frain) daughter. In short, it was a very strong little arc... //

Tough guy   Vinnie Jones   is embarrassed by what the star of his new TV drama "The Cape" drives to and from the set and only hopes the show becomes a big hit, so his pal can get a better vehicle.   Car fan Jones regularly taunts David Lyons about the battered black Wrangler Jeep he turns up to the set in, and thinks the star of the show should have a top-of-the-range vehicle.
