The Crazy Ones

Fast National ratings for Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013The battle of beloved stars returning to TV went decidedly in favor of Robin Williams and "The Crazy Ones" Thursday night, as his CBS show dominated the premiere of "The Michael J. Fox Show" on NBC. "The Crazy Ones" scored the biggest audience of any series premiere so far this fall and the second best 18-49 rating behind "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD." It got a big assist from "The Big Bang Theory," which had its biggest premiere ever and improved on that in a second episode. The news wasn't all good for CBS, though, as "Two and a Half Men" and "Elementary" were both down from their premieres last year.On the upside for NBC, "The Michael J. Fox Show" did build significantly on its "Parks and Recreation" lead-in. "Parks" was low, however, and "Parenthood" was off a little from last year's debut. Zap2it: In the CBS comedy "The Crazy Ones," premiering on Thursday, Sept. 26, you play Zach Cropper, the womanizing member of the Chicago advertising agency of Roberts & Roberts, run by the father-daughter team of Simon and Sydney (Robin Williams, Sarah Michelle Gellar). What's Zach's story?James Wolk: He definitely has a heart. He is a big kid who is a fun seeker and a thrill seeker. As we see in the pilot episode, he's a Lothario. He loves going out with Simon to pitch these clients and BS his way through things, but beneath that, there is a real person there.He has a little bit of the Peter Pan syndrome. He doesn't want to grow up, and he does a pretty good job not growing up, and he is able to stay in that world.
