Maggie Gyllenhaal is a stage and screen actor who made her film debut in "Waterland" (1992) when she was 15 years old. Her latest movie is "White House Down" (2013). The daughter of director Stephen Gyllenhaal and producer/screenwriter Naomi Foner Gyllenhaal, she was raised in Los Angeles and studied literature at Columbia before attending the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. Her big screen breakthrough came in 2002 with her starring role in "Secretary," for which she received a Golden Globe nomination. Gyllenhaal went on to roles in "Adaptation" (2002), "Mona Lisa Smile" (2003), "Happy Endings" (2005), "Sherrybaby" (2006), "The Dark Knight" (2008) and "Crazy Heart" (2009), which brought her an Academy Award nomination. On stage, she has starred in "Uncle Vanya" (2009) and "The Three Sisters" (2011), both at The Classic Stage Company in New York City, where she lives. Most recently Gyllenhaal has appeared in "Hysteria" (2012).
