'The Killing' Season 3 premiere ratings up from Season 2 finale

AMC's "The Killing" returned to solid numbers for its Season 3 premiere, as the lure of a fresh start proved greater than answering the mystery of who killed Rosie Larsen.Last night's two-hour season premiere drew 1.8 million viewers, a nice jump from the 1.45 million viewers who tuned in for the Season 2 finale (which finally resolved two seasons worth of the Rosie Larsen murder investigation). The Season 3 premiere audience was even with the Season 2 premiere, demonstrating once again that there's a core fan base for this series frequently dismissed by critics as tedious and pretentious. However, a significant portion of that audience is outside of AMC's target demos: "The Killing" averaged just 671,000 adults 25-54 and 563,000 adults 18-49. The show's third season follows an all new investigation and welcomes new cast members Elias Koteas, Amy Seimetz and Peter Sarsgaard alongside returning stars Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman. AMC ordered 12 episodes for... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/06/the-killing-season-3-premiere-ratings-up-from-season-2-finale.html

The Killing: Does Season 3 Show Signs of Life?

[WARNING: The following story contains mild spoilers from the Season 3 premiere of AMC's The Killing . Read at your own risk.] AMC's The Killing is back from the dead, but did the rain-soaked crime drama learn anything from the mistakes that sent it to an early grave in the first place? Summer TV: Get scoop on your favorite returning shows To recap: After debuting to much fanfare two years ago, The Killing seemingly squandered its promise — it was to re-invent the stale crime procedural genre with a deeper, character-driven exploration of a single case — by introducing numerous (and often senseless) red herrings that kept the show's not-quite-three-dimensional heroes chasing their tails.... //www.tvguide.com/News/The-Killing-Season3-Premiere-Recap-1066235.aspx?rss=breakingnews

'The Killing' Season 3: Amy Seimetz talks joining the cast for a new mystery and the show's slow burn style

Amy Seimetz almost didn't get her role on AMC's "The Killing." Network executives initially dismissed the indie actress ("Upstream Color") and filmmaker ("Sun Don't Shine") as too "cute and sweet" for the part of hot mess single mom Danette, whose teenage daughter goes missing in tonight's Season 3 premiere."I'm from Florida, and I'm pretty scrappy," Seimetz explains. "The idea of -- at 31 -- being called too cute and sweet made me really angry." So she fought back and ultimately won the gig with the help of a self-made audition video that didn't even feature sound ("That's when I realized that my iPad microphone was broken," she laughs).Maybe that sweetness was a lingering trace of her role as a love interest on HBO's Christopher Guest comedy "Family Tree," which she wrapped right before landing "The Killing" and coincidentally also airs on Sunday nights. Seimetz's "Tree" arc starts June 23, and she says anyone who tunes... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/06/the-killing-season-3-amy-seimetz-talks-joining-the-cast-for-a-new-mystery-and-the-shows-slow-burn-st.html

5 Things You Need To Know Before The Killing Season 3 Premiere

The Killing is coming back from the dead this Sunday (June 2nd), and I for one, couldn’t be happier. AMC dropped the ax on Holder and Linden shortly after season two ended, but thanks to a helping hand from Netflix and lower licensing fees, the network uncancelled the modern noir series. It’s no secret that the series takes its share of hits from the press, but as long as you like your mysteries pitch black, your detectives a little rough around the edges and your visual palette full of rainy skies, you are in good (and moody) hands with The Killing.
