'The Lizzie Borden Chronicles' Clea DuVall: Lizzie's sister Emma is 'a good enabler'

Zap2it: How would you describe the relationship of Emma and Lizzie Borden on Lifetime's "The Lizzie Borden Chronicles"?Clea DuVall: It's very dysfunctional but with a lot of love and a lot of compassion.Zap2it: How would you describe Emma?Clea DuVall: In the very beginning of playing her, she really took a back seat to Lizzie and really just served as her caretaker. And as the story evolved, she starts to get her own life and evolve into her own person and really has the opportunity to branch out from just being Lizzie's sister.Zap2it: So in essence, she's Lizzie's enabler?Clea DuVall: Yeah, that's absolutely what the relationship is. It's just kind of like cleaning up her messes and trying to keep her contained and happy.Zap2it: How does Emma become her own person?Clea DuVall: Well, she develops relationships outside of Lizzie, which she never had before, and finally taking the steps toward creating her own life and getting... //feedproxy.google.com/~r/Zap2it/~3/5QNKni-8078/the_lizzie_borden_chronicles_clea_duball_emma_borden_enabler-2015-04

'The Lizzie Borden Chronicles': Christina Ricci and Clea DuVall are truly twisted sisters

One might not consider the story of 19th century ax murderess Lizzie Borden anything to laugh at, but it's the seriocomic treatment of the subject in the limited series "The Lizzie Borden Chronicles" that drew respected film actresses Christina Ricci and Clea DuVall into the fold. The hourlong eight-part series, which premieres Sunday (April 5), on Lifetime, presents a fictionalized look at the events and people surrounding Lizzie's (Ricci) life following her acquittal of the horrific murders of her father and stepmother in 1892. Now famous, Lizzie finds herself living the life of a celebrity, complete with scandalous love affairs. When several people close to her turn up dead in strange and brutal circumstances, suspicion falls on you-know-who.The series is a continuation of the 2014 Lifetime telepic "Lizzie Borden Took an Ax.""It's a very fun, kind of outrageous show," Ricci tellsZap2itof the new offering, "where you're rooting for two antiheroes the whole time and kind of... //feedproxy.google.com/~r/Zap2it/~3/QMcWwEoMNhY/the_lizzie_borden_chronicles_christina_ricci_and_clea_duvall_are_truly_twisted_sisters-2015-04

'The Lizzie Borden Chronicles' Christina Ricci: 'We definitely decided that she was sociopathic'

Zap2it: How would you characterize the relationship of sisters Lizzie and Emma Borden on Lifetime's "The Lizzie Borden Chronicles"?Christina Ricci: I think it's a very need-based relationship. Lizzie sort of views her as her property, and Emma's always taken care of her but it's not, at least from Lizzie's point of view, a loving relationship. She's not really capable of love in a normal way.Zap2it: Is Lizzie a fun character to play?Christina Ricci: Yeah, really fun. Anything that is fantastic and sort of extreme is really fun to do as an actor, at least for me.Zap2it: How did you approach creating her?Christina Ricci: Well, I think a lot of the character is based on the action, sort of, [which] implies who she is, really. Somebody who is able to take human life like this and actually derive pleasure from it is going to be a certain type of character (laughs). We definitely decided that she... //feedproxy.google.com/~r/Zap2it/~3/sZZPVyZKTNs/the_lizzie_borden_chronicles_christina_ricci_sociopathic-2015-04
