Review of The Mandalorian

Set in the Star Wars universe, the series will take place five years after the events of Return of the Jedi, and follows a lone Mandalorian gunfighter beyond the reaches of the New Republic as he makes his way through the lawless galaxy.
I love what they did here. Old school fan, I feel like the movies are catered to a new generation of fans and wasn't really that invested in them. It's not Sharp Things or Fleabag level TV but that's never what Star Wars was about. This captures that original heart of the first trilogy and the Mandalorian characters themselves give you a gunslinger/viking in space kind of vibe. The implications of that ending (avoiding spoilers) on what comes next for Star Wars movies is also very big. Can't wait for the rest!

The Star Wars universe already has a couple generations of followers so new products in this genre can get away with being too trite feeble for my tastes. However, if this show maintains anything close to the richness and strength of this show's first episode, I expect I will eagerly look forward to watching each new episode.
