Freshman Comedy The Michael J. Fox Show Gets Canceled by NBC After 15 Episodes

NBC gives the axe to yet another freshman comedy. Shortly after pulling the plug on Sean Saves The World, fellow new series The Michael J. Fox Show has also been canceled. Another NBC comedy bites the dust! The Michael J. Fox show has officially been canceled, with future unaired episodes pulled completely from the Thursday night sitcom lineup. This news comes shortly after fellow freshman comedy Sean Saves The World also got the boot. It's unclear whether or not the remaining 7 episodes will air at a later date, but in the meantime, the network will fill in its timeslot with episodes of Hollywood Game Night. Thursday nights are going to look a different on NBC, post-Winter Olympics."Hollywood Game Night" will be taking up residence on the network's troubled night, resuming Season 2 on Thursday, Feb. 27 at 9 p.m. ET.Of course, this new time slot for the Jane Lynch-hosted game show means that (essentially canceled) "Sean Saves the World" and "The Michael J. Fox Show" have been removed from NBC's schedule until further notice.An NBC representative confirmed the scheduling move with Zap2it, saying that it remains unclear when (or if) the remaining seven episodes of "The Michael J. Fox" show that have already been filmed will air. TV ratings: 'Rake' premiere OK; 'Vampire Diaries' up for 100th episode

Fast National ratings for Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014New Greg Kinnear dramedy "Rake" premiered on FOX to OK numbers, but it was up against reruns on CBS and lost over 40 percent of viewers from its "American Idol" lead in. "Idol" also dipped slightly from last Thursday's performance. Elsewhere, "The Vampire Diaries" aired its 100th episode and saw a rise in viewership over its last two new episodes.Despite not having two hours of "Idol," FOX still won the night with 9.6 million viewers and a 5.8 rating/9 share in households. CBS' reruns were close behind, however, with 8.8 million viewers and a 5.5/9.
