'The Newsroom' Season 2: Aaron Sorkin on Newtown and a Constance Zimmer romance

brightcove.createExperiences(); The cast of "The Newsroom" joined writer and creator Aaron Sorkin at Paleyfest 2013, and before they held their panel discussion, they talked to Zap2it about what to expect from Season 2.As "Newsroom's" show within a show, "News Night" makes its way through a real-life timeline of headline-making news stories, Sorkin says Season 2 focuses a good bit on the recent presidential election, but he hasn't made it to the Sandy Hook massacre just yet. When the show does go there, will Jeff Daniels' character, "News Night" anchor Will McAvoy, break down on-screen as so many real-life journalists did."Yeah it wouldn't surprise me at all," Sorkin says. "I'm not up to Newtown yet, but obviously something like that, you want to be very careful how you handle it. It's such a meaningful event to everybody. You don't want to exploit it, and you certainly don't want to spread Cheez Whiz on it. But... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/03/the-newsroom-season-2-aaron-sorkin-on-newtown-and-a-constance-zimmer-romance.html

Chris Messina: My 'Newsroom' Character Is 'Such A Bastard'

" The Newsroom " star Chris Messina can't help noting how different his character Reese is from the rest of the gang. "[Reese is] such a bastard, isn't he? Yeah, he's such a bastard," Messina told The Olathe News . "He's constantly pushing everybody's buttons, you know? But it's fun to play that role, especially when everyone else on it is so into aspiring to be better and hold news to a high standard." But don't be fooled: Messina insists he's having a blast with his role on Aaron Sorkin's HBO drama. "It's sort of fun to be the antagonist of it all," he revealed. Messina may be able to pull off Sorkin, but can he wing it as Mindy Kaling's cute co-worker Danny Castellano on Fox's " The Mindy Project " (premiering Tues., Sept. 25 at 9:30 p.m. ET)? He certainly didn't think so at first . "When [Kaling] first asked, I told her no a bunch of times," he told Vulture . "But she kept coming back to me ... and it became impossible to say no ... In 'The Mindy Project' they are all so funny, so it's scary for me." //feeds.huffingtonpost.com/~r/HP/Entertainment/~3/im78aqVu66g/the-newsroom-chris-messin_n_1837593.html

'The Newsroom' finale sets up Season 2 with new stakes and all the greatest fools

"The Newsroom" was one of the most polarizing shows of the summer, with extremely vocal critics and supporters alike. In Sunday's Season 1 finale, some loose ends were tied up, but even more were left hanging loose, setting up a Season 2 with higher stakes than ever. First, let's talk about romance. Jim and Maggie have built up a palpable, powerful tension over the course of the season, culminating in him racing to her house in order to "gather his rosebuds" in some grand, romantic gesture -- and, instead, finding himself (again) settling in a relationship with Lisa. Months later, Maggie was waiting for a commitment from Don, who seemingly still thought of her as a late-night phone call, as we saw in the pilot. Exhausted from working overtime and from strained relationships, Maggie fully lost her cool on the side of the road, screaming at a bus full of "Sex and the City" fans... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/08/the-newsroom-finale-sets-up-season-2-with-new-stakes-and-all-the-greatest-fools.html

The Newsroom Season 1 Finale: 3 Reasons You Really, Really Need to Watch

What do critics know, really? Critics may have given the first season of the Aaron Sorkin-penned drama, The Newsroom, mixed reviews, but we can’t get enough of Will McAvoy and his driven (if endearingly flawed) News Night crew. While it’s no secret that The Newsroom had a rough start, series creator Sorkin mused at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour a few weeks ago that all the chatter about his newest show — good or bad — is "good for... //feeds.wetpaint.com/~r/wetpaint/latest/excerpt/~3/pvxKC0mRIMM/the-newsroom-season-1-finale-3-reasons-you-really-really-need-to-watch
