'The Office' first look: Clark suits up with Dwight

Clark Duke returns to "The Office" Thursday (Jan. 17) after being absent from the past few episodes. And Dwight, oddly enough, is pretty happy to see him.Clark has been, uh, servicing the White Pages account with Jan, but now that he's back, Dwight (Rainn Wilson) is eager to use him again to land another account. 'The Office': Steve Carell probably won't come back for the finale

Michael Scott isn't likely to make a return trip to "The Office" before it ends this season.That's the word from NBC chairman Bob Greenblatt, who says he's still "hopeful" Steve Carell might return to the show but isn't holding his breath."He left in the way he wanted to leave, and he and [executive producer Greg Daniels] talked about it, and I don't think he will," Greenblatt said Sunday (Jan. 6) at the TCA winter press tour. "There's maybe a little Hail Mary pass on a cameo, but I think the decision is that it will go out without him sort of compromising his exit.""The Office" returns from its holiday hiatus on Thursday. 'The Office': Jon Favreau will direct an episode

"The Office" will welcome another big-name director to the world of Dunder Mifflin before it ends in the spring."Iron Man" helmer Jon Favreau will direct an upcoming episode of the NBC comedy, TVLine reports. Favreau and the show are working on coordinating their schedules, so it's not yet known where his episode will fall in the remainder of the season.Favreau is the latest in a line of well-known directors to take the reins of "The Office." Joss Whedon, J.J. Abrams, Jason Reitman and Harold Ramis have also directed episodes of the show in the past.Favreau's other TV directing credits include the pilot of NBC's "Revolution" (he's also an executive producer) and episodes of "Undeclared," "In Case of Emergency" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live."... //

TV ratings: 'X Factor' Season 2 finale rises, still down from Season 1

There was good news and bad news for the Season 2 finale of FOX's "The X Factor." The music competition posted its highest overall audience and 18-49 demo ratings since the early October bootcamp rounds, but the numbers were still down from last season's already soft ratings.The 9.65 million total viewers and 3.1 rating in 18-49 was good enough to rank "The X Factor" #1 for the night in 18-49 and give FOX the lead in both categories. But the most watched show of the evening was a rerun of "The Big Bang Theory" that drew 10.9 million viewers. "The X Factor" came close to that in its final half hour of a two-hour live results show, hitting 10.8 million viewers. TV ratings: 'Big Bang Theory' gets even bigger; 'X Factor' loses to 'Voice' again

Nothing can stop comedy powerhouse "The Big Bang Theory" which matched series highs in total viewers and a season high in the 18-49 demo on Thursday (Nov. 8) to drive CBS to a decisive victory in both measures.Meanwhile, a special airing of "The Voice" helped give NBC's usual Thursday doldrums a boost. Though the singing competition slipped to a season low, it still easily topped rival FOX's "X Factor" head-to-head in both viewers and 18-49.After a five week hiatus, primarily due to baseball and election coverage, "Glee" returned to a season low in viewers. "Two and a Half Men" (featuring guest star Miley Cyrus), "The Office" and "Parks and Recreation" all hit season highs in viewers.CBS averaged 13.6 million viewers and an 8.6 rating/14 share to dominate primetime in households.
