'The Office' Season 7, Episode 18 Recap

If you take out the main story of tonight's episode -- how Michael deals with his desire to ask Holly to marry him -- what you have left over isn't all that funny, which is a big, big worry. I might be of a minority opinion, but most of the non-Michael stories I've seen this season, all written with an eye towards getting viewers used to the idea of 'The Office' without Steve Carell, haven't really worked. Many times there's no story there, just vignettes of life in the office between a particular set of characters. 'The Office' recap: Pack, Pack, Pack It Up

Who has two thumbs and hates Todd Packer? Tonight's episode of  The Office  revealed that the answer to that question just might be "everyone." Let's rewind. Packer, the insufferable d-bag who is somehow Michael Scott's best friend, has decided that he's finally ready to come home to Dunder Mifflin Scranton after years as a traveling salesman. Michael sings Packer's praises to Holly, who promptly hires the boor for a desk job. This doesn't sit well with the rest of the office -- well, except for Kevin, who finds Packer's crude humor hilarious. The Office Review: Good Riddance, Todd Packer!

Todd Packer sucks. I know viewers of The Office are meant to dislike this chauvinist, but he was fun to hate in the past, when he'd show up occasionally, toss in a few bawdy insults and be on his way. On an episode named in his honor, however, and filled with more Packer than any other character, I was legitimately hoping he'd leave the screen every time he appeared.
