'The Office': Michael Scott says goodbye, and so do we

Michael Scott's (and Steve Carell's) last day at "The Office" promises to be an emotional one. This isn't going to be a play-by-play live blog, exactly, but we're hoping to capture our initial impressions of Carell's goodbye more or less as they happen. Come along for what we're expecting to be a tear-jerking ride. So, here we go. NBC showed "Garage Sale" leading into this episode, so we're suitably prepared to get all sentimental.Cold open: Fresh Rocky Mountain oysters, huh Dwight? It seems on-point that Dwight would be more concerned about his own future than Michael leaving. Also: The roof of Dunder Mifflin is probably not quite enough to get used to the altitude in Colorado.Act 1 (more or less; we'll use commercial breaks to signify the segments of the episode, even if that doesn't match the act breaks in Greg Daniels' script): Wait -- Michael doesn't want any drama on his last day? And... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/04/the-office-michael-scott-says-goodbye-and-so-do-we.html

'The Office': Relive the glories of 'That's what she said'

As Michael Scott shuffles off the "Office" coil Thursday night, we thought it appropriate to look back at perhaps his biggest gift. That's what she said.Below you will find a collection of "That's what she saids" from the history of "The Office." Most are uttered by Michael (Steve Carell), of course, but there are a surprising number of them from other characters, including Dwight (Rainn Wilson), Jim (John Krasinski) and even Jan (Melora Hardin). Now, there are a couple of caveats: The video is labeled "Every 'That's what she said,'" but it's a couple years old, so TWSS-es from the past couple seasons aren't on it. (Our all-time favorite, however, is: Michael, in crisis-management mode during the "Product Recall" episode, proclaims, "I need two men on this. That's what she said. No time! But she did. No time!") And, frankly, it feels like there should be more of them. That's not even to say that there are... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/04/the-office-relive-the-glories-of-thats-what-she-said.html

Director Paul Feig Shares Non-Spoilery Secrets of Steve Carell's Exit from 'The Office'

In the victory lap that has preceded his exit from 'The Office,' Steve Carell once again proved how vital he has been to the success of the NBC comedy. Now that 'The Office' is in its seventh season, it's not as consistently funny as it was in its earlier years, but Carell is the reason that season 7's best moments worked so very well. Because Carell made us root for this incompetent Dunder Mifflin manager, Michael Scott's proposal to Holly Flax -- and even his worshipful groping of her -- provided the show with its most memorable moments in ages. The actor leaves the show for good in Thursday's super-sized episode, and Paul Feig, who directed the episode and many other fine 'Office' outings, recalls the evolution of the character and talks about Carell's exit in the Q&A below. //www.tvsquad.com/2011/04/27/secrets-of-steve-carell-final-office-episode/

'The Office': Ray Romano not replacing Steve Carell

Ray Romano wants to make it perfectly clear: He is not replacing Steve Carell on "The Office."The star of the NBC workplace sitcom exits the show in a "super-sized" episode Thursday (April 28), and Romano will turn up in the May 19 season finale, along with James Spader ("Boston Legal") and British comedy star Catherine Tate. However, the former staple of "Everybody Loves Raymond" and current writer-actor on TNT's "Men of a Certain Age" stresses it's only a brief visit."It's a cameo," Emmy winner Romano tells Zap2it. "It's real quick, a drive-by. One of the writers on the show, Aaron Shure, was on 'Raymond,' He called me at the house and asked if I would do it, and I said, 'Yeah.' As soon as I took it, though, I thought, 'Oh, I hope people don't think I'm going to take the place of Steve Carell. I know we're going to get all the hate mail... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/04/the-office-ray-romano-not-replacing-steve-carell.html
