The Office: Steve Carells farewell will run long

The Office will take a little extra time to say goodbye to Steve Carell on April 28.NBC says that Carells last episode -- which is now only 17 days away -- will run from 9 to 9:52 p.m. ET on the 28th. The network will also air a longer-than-usual Parks and Recreation that night; it will air from 9:52 to 10:30 p.m., followed by a regular-length 30 Rock at 10:30. (Sorry, Outsourced; you wont be part of Carells farewell night.)The April 28 episode will be the conclusion of a two-part story (appropriately titled Goodbye Michael) that begins the previous week. As Michael (Carell) puts in his last day in Scranton, he hopes for a day without drama so he can say goodbye to everyone. (Considering that hes the cause of much of the drama at Dunder Mifflin, that might not fly so well.) Meanwhile, Andy (Ed Helms) and new manager Deangelo (guest star Will Ferrell)... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/04/the-office-steve-carells-farewell-will-run-long.html

THE OFFICE and PARKS AND RECREATION Get Supersized Episodes This Month

As the end of Steve Carell’s run on  The Office  looms closer, NBC is really giving Michael Scott a proper send-off. The network announced today that the actor’s final episode on the series will be given a special 50-minute episode to allow for a proper farewell. That episode airs Thursday, April 28th from 9-9:50pm (8-8:50pm central time) and will also be followed by a 40-minute episode of Parks and Recreation  from 9:50-10:30pm (8:50-9:30pm central time). It’s going to be hard to say goodbye to Michael Scott, but this extended episode should give fans plenty of time to say farewell. And more  Parks and Recreation  is always good too.  //collider.com/the-office-parks-recreation-supersized-episodes/85322/

'The Office': Will Ferrell greets the Dunder Mifflin team

Will Ferrell's first appearance on "The Office" is still almost a week away, but you can get a little taste of it right now.NBC has released a pair of clips from Ferrell's first episode on Thursday, April 14. They feature his character, DeAngelo Vickers, meeting the Dunder Mifflin team in Scranton, where he's arrived to help smooth the transition when Michael (Steve Carell) leaves. Also in the video below: Kevin (Brian Baumgartner) in a really bad hairpiece. That last bit is probably not important right now (although we have to say, our eyes went right to Kevin's rug the moment it appeared onscreen). DeAngelo, as he tells the staff in the first clip below, is allergic to peanuts and is a lover of the American Southwest. And apparently has done some online dating in the past, because his self-description sounds like it could have been lifted straight from Match.com.In the second clip, Kelly (Mindy Kaling) arranges... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/04/the-office-will-ferrell-greets-the-dunder-mifflin-team.html

'The Office': Behind the scenes with Will Ferrell; plus, more guest stars!

Up above, you can get a little peek into what "The Office" with Will Ferrell will be like, as well as some behind-the-scenes footage about how Ferrell is settling into his new, temporary job. It's good stuff (especially the part where Ed Helms admits thinking Ferrell's name was actually Ron Burgundy) -- but it's probably not the biggest "Office"-related news of the day. That comes courtesy of TVLine, which reports that the show's season finale has added three more high-profile guest stars: Ray Romano, British actress Catherine Tate and James Spader, late of "Boston Legal." They join the previously announced Ricky Gervais and Will Arnett. All three of the newly booked guests will play candidates for Michael's (Steve Carell) job, but since Romano's already got a day job on "Men of a Certain Age," his character's interview isn't likely to go all that well. Multiple Emmy winner Spader and Tate -- who starred in her own, very funny... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/04/the-office-behind-the-scenes-with-will-ferrell-plus-more-guest-stars.html

Will Ferrell joining 'The Office' full time, unless he's kidding

Hey, did you hear? Will Ferrell is joining "The Office" for good next season!Unless he's not.The source of the "Office" gossip is Ferrell himself, who told EW at the taping of the Comedy Awards over the weekend that "I'm taking over. My character's name is Deangelo Vickers" -- that part's true -- "he loves the American Southwest, and he's just kind of in his own way going to step into Michael Scott's shoes and try to fill them."He added that he initially pitched guesting on just one episode of the show, but the "Office" team came back with an offer for four episodes. He said yes, and now, according to him, those four episodes have become "a regular, full-time gig."If that's true, it would be a huge get for the show. Going into Steve Carell's last season, few people would have guessed he'd be replaced by an even bigger star. But forgive us if we're... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/03/will-ferrell-joining-the-office-full-time-unless-hes-kidding.html

TV ratings: 'American Idol' results up, lead Thursday by a lot

Fast National ratings for Thursday, March 24, 2011The wild and wacky "American Idol" results show Thursday was up a good amount from last week, carrying FOX to an easy ratings win for the night. Coverage of the NCAA tournament was also up significantly over last year -- but because it was split between CBS and TBS, the Eye's numbers were down compared to the 2010 Sweet 16 round. Thanks to "Idol," FOX led Thursday by a wide margin, averaging 14.8 million viewers and an 8.6 rating/14 share in households. ABC (8.5 million, 5.4/9) came in second. CBS' 7.15 million viewers and 4.6/8 took third (those numbers may change some because of its live NCAA coverage). NBC (4.7 million, 2.9/5) was up some with a new episode of "The Office." The CW trailed with 1.4 million viewers and a 0.9/1.FOX also scored the top spot among adults 18-49 with a 4.4 rating. ABC finished second in the... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/03/tv-ratings-american-idol-results-up-lead-thursday-by-a-lot.html
