The September 19 premiere of NBC's 1960s-set The Playboy Club will reveal that one of the bunnies is a closeted lesbian married to a gay man. Openly gay series star Amber Heard, who plays the straight Maureen, was surprised to see the original depiction of the lesbian bunny as butch. Singer Rafael Saadiq To Appear on THE PLAYBOY CLUB

Singer-songwriter Rafael Saadiq will play  the late  singer Sam Cooke  in  THE PLAYBOY CLUB . In what will become a regular feature on the series , modern day artists will be transformed into 1960?s artists who performed at the legendary gentlemen’s club. Much like  our report on Colbie Caillat’s upcoming performance as Lesley Gore on the series , Saadiq is the second artist to be announced and he will portray Cooke shortly before his tragic murder in 1964 at the age of 33. He will sing Cooke’s hit single "Having A Party". He is expected to appear in the show’s fourth episode. 'The Playboy Club' an 'insult' to women's rights advocates

The NBC show "The Playboy Club" continues to court controversy before the first episode even airs.The San Francisco Commission on the Status of Women has issued a non-binding resolution urging NBC and its affiliates to "replace the program with a series that, instead, depicts women's substantive achievements." The organization is a publicly-funded entity dedicated to securing equal economic, social, political and educational opportunities for San Francisco women. The resolution, issued in late Aug., says the show "represents a major step backward for women who have struggled to earn an equal place in the workplace, in the community, and at home.""The Playboy Club" focuses on the lives of the famed Bunnies as well as clientele of the original Playboy Club in 1960s. Playboy Club Books Another Guest Performer

Joel Gretsch to Hold Office on The Playboy Club

Joel Gretsch is going from a priest to a politician. The actor, who played Father Jack on V and recently appeared on an episode of In Plain Sight , will recur throughout season one of The Playboy Club as an adversary for Eddie Cibrian's Nick Dalton. Dalton will be aiming for the officer of State's Attorney this fall, but he'll have to defeat the man holding that position first: Gretsch's incumbent. NBC Unveils Posters for New Series Including THE PLAYBOY CLUB, GRIMM, PRIME SUSPECT and More

We’re just over a month away from kicking off the new television season and so the networks are really starting to push their new series into the public eye. NBC is up to bat today with a small batch of new posters promoting a few of their new series hitting in September. After the jump you can check out some slick new posters for the  Mad Men -esque series  The Playboy Club , the American remake of the British series  Prime Suspect , the fairytale crime drama  Grimm , and comedies like  Up All Night ,  Free Agents  and  Whitney . Honestly, it seems like NBC has the most promising line-up of new shows, but Fox could give them a run for their money. 'The Playboy Club': Colbie Caillat to Guest Star

Colbie Caillat  will visit NBC’s  The Playboy Club  this fall. As first reported by EW, the singer has been tapped to play  Lesley Gore  in an episode of the upcoming fall drama and perform famed singer’s "It’s My Party" on the 1960s period drama starring  Eddie Cibrian  and  Amber Heard ,  The Hollywood Reporter  has confirmed. As first reported by TV Line, Freeman has booked a recurring role on NBC’s upcoming fall drama  The Playboy Club ,  The Hollywood Reporter  has confirmed. Freeman, who played Tess on the CW’s  Smallville , will play Frances Dunhill, a Chicago socialite with a secret who stands in as Nick Dalton’s ( Eddie Cibrian ) date as he makes a run for public office and she aims to please her father.
