This show is NOT Resurrection, though both shows have people returning from the dead who don't seem to know what has happened to them. This show is a bit darker than Resurrection...at least so far.
And more importantly, this show is not copying Resurrection.... Resurrection is based upon a 2013 book called "The Returned" and just got to air first. On the other hand, this show, The Returned is based on the 11 year old French 2004 film, "Les Revenants" aka "They Came Back". The film was also made into a French TV show in 2012, which is 3 years ago... so again, this TV show is based on the original, while Resurrection is forth to the table (fifth if you count Babylon Fields from 2007 of which you can watch the unaired pilot on Vimeo and is supposedly being remade by NBC).

This American version of the French original was good and perfectly suited for A&E. The problem was that even the talented cast couldn't hide this remake's flaws. The sound editing, visuals, and direction of this series just aren't as outstanding as in the French version. If you like A&E and hate subtitles watch this show. Otherwise, stick to the original.

So, basically this is “Resurrection” (which, incidentally, was also originally called “The Returned”) without the black main character? Did someone forget to tell A&E their show already exists (CURRENTLY ON AIR) two times over?

Early in the first season it's a supernatural soap opera which is slowly edging towards full fledged horror. People come back from the dead, and they seem to bring more death with them - the question being how much is within their control, and how much is 'just happening'.

It looks to be developing slowly, which is perfect for creepy horror. Hopefully it won't devolve into just another gore fest.

this was HELLA weird. i felt like there was nowhere they could have gone with this storyline, or at least the way it was written. idk. not sad it got canceled.

I loved this show. It's a different kind of show that I like watching and it caught me since episode 1 and I wanted to continue knowing what was happening with every episode that was passing by. There needs to be a SEASON 2 PLEASE

Unnecessary and, like Gracepoint, a copy-paste drama. The US version of The Returned does little to improve the original series, a show whose flaws were quite evident. Instead of taking the opportunity to do something different, this show just follows the original plot and flops doing so.
