TV ratings: 'The Sing-Off' finale rises but CBS reruns lead Monday

Fast National ratings for Monday, Nov. 28, 2011"The Sing-Off" drew its biggest audience of the season as it crowned its winner Monday night, and it also helped "Rock Center with Brian Williams" draw its best numbers so far this season. That wasn't enough, however, to move NBC much higher up in the night's rankings. The Peacock did beat ABC in viewers (though not in adults 18-49) for the night, but its numbers are also inflated a little because the network's New Orleans affiliate carried "Monday Night Football." At any rate, it fell well short of catching CBS' rerun lineup or FOX's original dramas.CBS averaged 8.5 million viewers and a 5.4 rating/8 share in households for the night -- pretty healthy returns for an evening full of repeats. FOX (7.3 million, 4.3/6) finished second and was up a bit from last week. NBC (5.95 million, 3.7/6) took third, narrowly beating ABC (5.85 million, 3.5/5). The CW, which... //

'The Sing-Off' Finale: And the Winner Is... (VIDEO)

After their longest season yet, it was down to a college a cappella group, a hip hop group and a group creating an electronic dance club sound on the season finale of 'The Sing-Off' (Mon., 8PM ET on NBC). It was amazing watching these three powerhouse groups through the season. !!SPOILER ALERT!! The Dartmouth Aires soared under the powerful lead vocals of Michael, while it took Urban Method a little while to find their strengths beyond their rap niche. Pentatonix struggled a bit with deciding how far to take their signature remixes. But all three groups excelled and impressed week after week. //

'The Sing Off' winners Pentatonix on YouTube, Nick Lachey and recording an album

Arlington, Texas trio-turned a cappella quintet Pentatonix were crowned the winners of "The Sing-Off" in the show's two-hour live finale. Zap2it caught up with the group backstage after the show to talk about their new title. Frankly, Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kirstie Maldonado, Avi Kaplan and Kevin Olusola were still a little shell-shocked at their win, but managed to string enough sentences together to speak effusively about their competition during the show, finding their exquisite rhythm section, and recording their first album.Zap2it: Congratulations! How does it feel to be the "Sing Off" winners? Scott: It feels amazing. It really does. Kevin: To know that we came from completely different parts of the country -- they started off as a trio then added [me and Avi] to the group -- and then we created this sound that is very much us, now to showcase that to the world is a really surreal feeling. Scott: Just knowing... //

'The Sing-Off': Shawn Stockman says, 'You need to breathe'

"The Sing-Off" concludes its third and longest season Monday (Nov. 28) on NBC, with a cappella groups the Dartmouth Aires, Pentatonix and Urban Method vying for the prize of $200,000 and a Sony Music recording contract.Since the show has been on a few seasons, the judges all say the quality of the groups has gone up. That's perhaps partly because they've been listening to what longtime judges Ben Folds and Shawn Stockman have been saying all along (and former judge Nicole Scherzinger, now on "The X Factor").If the show returns for a fourth season, perhaps future competitors will benefit from what new judge Sara Bareilles has been able to add.All "The Sing-Off" judges are experienced performers in their own right. R&B singer Stockman is a member of the vocal group Boyz II Men, having begun his musical career at the age of eight with the Philadelphia Boys Choir & Chorale.Standing backstage during production on the... //
