'The Taste': Not Making It May Turn Out Better For One

If television can handle what seems like a different singing competition on every night of the week, why not more cooking shows? ABC threw its hat in the ring with the series premiere of " The Taste ." It clearly took a few tips from NBC's hit "The Voice." The singing show puts the emphasis entirely on that voice by having the judges face away from them during their initial audition. It's all about that first taste on ABC's culinary competition. Potential contestants make their dish and the judges decide if they want them on their team based on a single bite. Just a taste. In this premiere, Renee may have taken one of the biggest gambles yet to be a part of the show. She quit her job as a culinary instructor in Chicago for the opportunity, making it even more crushing when her sample didn't earn her a spot on anyone's team. But, she may still come out a winner. One of the judges, Chef Ludo Lefebvre offered her instead a job. "I'm going to hold you to that!" she exclaimed excitedly, but he was very serious. "I will be happy to teach you a little. See you soon!" Lefebvre said. That may prove a better reward than making it on the show for Renee. Lefebvre is joined on the judging panel by Anthony Bourdain, Nigella Lawson and Brian Malarkey. Once teams are selected, the real competition will begin. "The Taste" continues on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EST on ABC. TV Replay scours the vast television landscape to find the most interesting, amusing, and, on a good day, amazing moments, and delivers them right to your browser. //feeds.huffingtonpost.com/~r/HP/Entertainment/~3/LLj2jN3J3YA/the-taste-premiere-not-making-it-video_n_2531114.html
