TV ratings: 'X Factor' finale way down from last year, 'Big Bang Theory' rerun leads Thursday

Fast National ratings for Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013The good news for "The X Factor" finale Thursday was it scored its best Thursday ratings in more than two months. The bad news is that it ended a season that saw heavy ratings losses compared to last year with more of the same -- the finale was down 36 percent in viewers and 45 percent in adults 18-49 vs. the final episode of 2012.Elsewhere Thursday, "The Sing-Off" had its lowest outing thus far this season, dipping a tenth of a point in the 18-49 demographic vs. last week. A "Big Bang Theory" repeat scored the night's biggest audience by a wide margin, and an encore of "A Charlie Brown Christmas" did pretty well for ABC -- topping both singing competitions in their common hour.Thursday hour by hour:8 p.m.CBS: "The Big Bang Theory" rerun (11.1 million viewers, 6.9/12 households)/"The Millers" rerun (7.6 million, 4.8/8)ABC: Special - "A Charlie... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/12/tv-ratings-x-factor-finale-way-down-from-last-year-big-bang-theory-rerun-leads-thursday.html

'The X Factor' winners want to co-write every song on their album

Even after Alex and Sierra spent an hour and a half talking to press from all over the country, it still hasn't sunk in that they won Season 3 of "The X Factor." The Florida duo beat out Latin pop singer Carlito Olivero and rocker Jeff Gutt to take home the title -- and a $1 million Sony recording contract -- but even while they were getting visibly emotional while singing their coronation song, it still felt like just another week in the FOX reality competition. "It kind of felt like just another performance," Sierra Deaton tells Zap2it backstage after her victory. "Like, 'OK, we made it through another week. Yeah!'" They started out fine, but Alex Kinsey quickly lost his composure and they were both in tears by the end of their encore rendition of "Say Something." "I was all right," says Alex. "I was like 'Man, this is going to be OK,' but... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/12/the-x-factor-winners-alex-and-sierra-want-to-cowrite-every-song-on-their-album.html

'X Factor' Shocker: TV's Worst Singing Show Finds Its Best Winner (Opinion)

If one were to cobble together a list of pros and cons relating to the just-concluded third go-round of The X Factor , the latter column would cast a long, sad shadow. The chemistry between the judging panel, while a little less zombified minus the wordless, baffled presence of Britney Spears , still had the spontaneity of diners at a crowded restaurant forced to share a table with strangers. Then there remained the wildly over-styled and choreographed production numbers, the thunderous backing tracks, the repellent musical theme weeks, the massive disconnect between the caliber of performer competing on the show and the torrents of praise lavished upon them.  Read More...   //feedproxy.google.com/~r/thr/television/~3/h-ApGkp_MXA/story01.htm

'X Factor' Crowns a Winner

X Factor crowned its season three winner on Thursday night, ending a months-long competition that saw three finalists emerge: couple and duo Alex & Sierra, rocker Jeff Gutt and Latino crooner  Carlito Olivero . The winner receives a million dollar recording contract with Sony Music. [Warning: Spoilers ahead...] So who took home the top prize? It came as little surprise to fans of the show that Alex & Sierra were named winners. Favorites from the start, they came into the finals with the most momentum, it seemed, even if Gutt and Olivero impressed with their final performances. 'The X Factor' finale results: Did Alex and Sierra, Jeff Gutt or Carlito Olivero win?

After weeks of double eliminations, tough sing-offs and some brutal critiques, "The X Factor" Season 3 has finally crowned a winner. Which finalist walked away with the title (and a $1 million Sony recording contract): folkie duo Alex and Sierra, rocker Jeff Gutt or Latin pop singer Carlito Olivero? After plenty of fanfare -- and lots of results show filler -- the boyfriend/girlfriend group from Florida, Alex and Sierra, took home the win. The pair had never once been in the Bottom 2 and had multiple Top 10 singles on iTunes, so it shouldn't come as too much of a shock that they were able to take home the grand prize. Coming in second place was Detroit singer Gutt, who had also never finished in the bottom but still seemed like a bit of an underdog compared to the buzzworthy Alex and Sierra. And despite a valiant last-minute surge -- talk about peaking at the... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/12/the-x-factor-finale-results-did-alex-and-sierra-jeff-gutt-or-carlito-olivero-win.html

'The X Factor' finale: Carlito Olivero just wants to make his family proud

Carlito Olivero just wants to make everyone who loves him proud. In all of his confessionals in the pre-taped packages that introduce his "X Factor" performances, he's mentioned that he's trying to make it so he can help his family. He mentions it in his interviews, too, and his backstage chat with Zap2it following Season 3's final performance show was no exception. "I love my mom and my parents and god willing we get that contract, the first thing I am doing is paying off the house -- that was a promise I made for them," he tells us. It's something Olivero's mom mentioned in one of Carlito's packages during the show -- right before she broke down crying about everything he wants to do for his family. "My parents are amazing, strong people, but the minute I heard my mom crying, I was covering my ears because I didn't want to cry in the... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/12/the-x-factor-finale-carlito-olivero-just-wants-to-make-his-family-proud.html
