'The X Factor' Season 4 renewed or canceled? Decision coming within the month

"The X Factor" might have finally crowned its first commercially viable winner with Alex and Sierra taking the Season 3 grand prize, but there's still no decision on a potential Season 4 or Simon Cowell's involvement. If it does return, however, it will definitely look different from Seasons 1-3. FOX entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly told reporters at the 2014 Television Critics Association winter press tour that he has not decided whether he'll renew the show for a fourth season. "There is no decision," Reilly says. "The show under-performed this year, Simon himself would admit that. The ratings were not what we hoped." Reilly confirms what Cowell told Zap2it about changes in format, saying, "If the show were to come back, it would not be in the current format we have. ... We'll make that decision over the next month." Regardless of how the show looks, Cowell will still be involved. "He's never going to be... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2014/01/the-x-factor-season-4-renewed-or-canceled-decision-coming-by-february.html

'The X Factor': Finalist Carlito Olivero 'walking away a winner'

Okay, so Carlito Olivero didn't win a million bucks. But for the Chicago singer, finishing third on "The X Factor" is just fine by him. He didn't have any expectations for his performance on the show (aside from getting past the audition rounds) so second runner-up is a-ok. "All I ever wanted was to just get past that first round and get four yeses from the judges. When I did that I already felt accomplished," Olivero tells Zap2it backstage after the "X Factor" Season 3 finale. "As each and every round went by my mentality was 'Yo, at least I didn't get in the bottom two so I can perform again!' And then [when I was in the bottom I thought] ]I can make it through and I have a fighting chance.'" Besides, some of the show's most successful acts finished third. "One Direction got Top 3. Fifth Harmony got Top 3. So many other... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/12/the-x-factor-finalist-carlito-olivero-walking-away-a-winner.html

'The X Factor' runner-up Jeff Gutt can't wait to buy Alex and Sierra's album

Jeff Gutt spent most of the second half of "The X Factor" Season 3 concentrating on blowing his competitors out of the water. He ultimately came in second place, but after his loss Gutt is in good spirits and has nothing but love for his fellow finalists. "I feel great," he tells Zap2it backstage. "Everything happens for a reason. I'm excited for [winners] Alex and Sierra. I can't wait to get their record. And Carlito [Olivero, who came in third], I love that guy. Nothing but respect. He just works so hard." Experiencing a grueling singing competition together gave Gutt lots of respect for his fellow competitors -- but so did the fact that they were all good people. "We all became family doing this because we didn't really have our families out here, so we relied on each other for a lot of things," he says. "There were never any egos or negativity between... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/12/the-x-factor-runner-up-jeff-gutt-cant-wait-to-buy-alex-and-sierras-album.html

Alex and Sierra won every week of 'The X Factor' Season 3

It probably wasn't very much of a surprise to the producers of "The X Factor" that Florida duo Alex and Sierra won Season 3, considering they'd gotten the most votes every single week. Simon Cowell didn't find out until after his group's victory that they'd dominated the competition, but he was relieved they'd managed to win. "The gap was closing," Cowell told Zap2it backstage after the big win. "I was told that tonight by one of the producers because I was dying to know, and they kept that away from us. In a way I'm kind of glad that we didn't know. It made you fight harder." Of course, Alex and Sierra would have been successful no matter where they finished. "They knew they were going to get a record deal; they aren't stupid. You don't get to No. 1 on iTunes two weeks in a row and not get a record contract," he says.... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/12/alex-and-sierra-won-every-week-of-the-x-factor-season-3.html

The X Factor Finale: Major Ratings Drop Since Last Year

This time last year The X Factor had just crowned Tate Stevens the Season 2 winner and the show was enjoying a boom in the ratings. The conclusion of 2012’s run earned a 3.1 rating for adults 18 to 49 — not a terrific number in the scheme of blowout TV shows (for comparison, the one-time CBS special of The Sound of Music Live had a 4.6 with more than 18.5 million viewers). But oh how great a 3.1 seems now at the tail end of X Factor’s third season. The December 19 finale’s two-hour... //feeds.wetpaint.com/~r/wetpaint/latest/excerpt/~3/-gk1hYPCnkk/2013-12-20-season-3-finale-ratings-low

'The X Factor' winners want to co-write every song on their album

Even after Alex and Sierra spent an hour and a half talking to press from all over the country, it still hasn't sunk in that they won Season 3 of "The X Factor." The Florida duo beat out Latin pop singer Carlito Olivero and rocker Jeff Gutt to take home the title -- and a $1 million Sony recording contract -- but even while they were getting visibly emotional while singing their coronation song, it still felt like just another week in the FOX reality competition. "It kind of felt like just another performance," Sierra Deaton tells Zap2it backstage after her victory. "Like, 'OK, we made it through another week. Yeah!'" They started out fine, but Alex Kinsey quickly lost his composure and they were both in tears by the end of their encore rendition of "Say Something." "I was all right," says Alex. "I was like 'Man, this is going to be OK,' but... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/12/the-x-factor-winners-alex-and-sierra-want-to-cowrite-every-song-on-their-album.html
