'Guys With Kids' and 'Elementary' get more episodes, 'Vegas' cut by one

"Guys With Kids" hasn't been picked up for a full season, but it will last longer than its initial 13-episode run.NBC has ordered four more episodes of the Wednesday-night sitcom, bringing its total for the season to 17, Deadline reports. The site also says that CBS has upped the order for "Elementary" from 22 to 24, but it cut back "Vegas" by one episode. Order reductions aren't ever good news for a show, but somehow the idea of "Vegas" having 21 episodes seems appropriate."Guys With Kids" hasn't pulled very big ratings for NBC this fall, but they have at least been consistent. The show is averaging 5.5 million viewers and a 2.0 rating among adults 18-49, with about 20 percent of the viewer count coming from DVR viewing. It usually built on its "Animal Practice" lead-in, although it dropped some from the "Whitney" premiere this week."Elementary" and "Vegas" have both been strong performers for CBS.... //

Vegas Preview: Kidnapping, Hitmen and Shoot-outs!

Last week’s Vegas saw Vincent Savino go off on his own with plans to improve business in Las Vegas as Sheriff Lamb pursued yet another case. Vincent Savino found himself the target of the Milwaukee mob when he made a move on a slowly dying local club - The Tumbleweed Club.  After his plan to expand The Savoy was shot down by his bosses, he decided to take another route, and claim a stake in a club that he could make prosper.  As he tells his right-hand-man Anthony, Chicago doesn’t need to know about the deal until after it’s all done and neat.  Though, the Milwaukee boys had their sights set on the Tumbleweed as well, and even went as far as tossing a bomb into the club in a statement that the owner better take their deal over Savino’s, and opened fire at Savino in a parking garage. Carrie-Anne Moss' vintage 'Vegas' style, courtesy of Etsy

As costume designer for the CBS period series "Vegas," Kathleen Detoro is a big fan of online marketplace Etsy. It has proved to be a gold mine for one-of-a-kind vintage pieces for leading lady Carrie-Anne Moss, who plays district attorney Katherine O'Connell, and the rest of the cast."You can search for anything on Etsy," she tells Zap2it. "I've been purchasing from them and there are different antique vendors all over the world ... It's a good thing for the company and the show. [The vendors] will tell you the story behind it and it's more personal and really a nice thing to help the economy and the show and get these beautiful items that we use. And guess what, they were also all made in America. I also like that very much. I feel good about doing it."Detoro enjoys having a wide range of characters to dress, from regular people to showgirls and gangsters, and... //

'Vegas' Dennis Quaid: 'If someone was doing my story, I'd want them to get it right'

Zap2it: Your "Vegas" character is based on a real, living person. Does that make it more important to get it right?Dennis Quaid: It does up the stakes, because I have played so many real people who were still living at the time, like Gordo Cooper in "The Right Stuff," and in "The Rookie," Jim Morris was a real guy, and Bill Clinton. I think I've played about 10 of those, and I've always sought [the real people] out. If someone was doing my story, I'd want them to get it right. That doesn't mean they have to sugarcoat the truth, but I want to capture the essence of somebody and tell the story from their point of view.Zap2it: "Vegas" is set in 1960. Are you having any nostalgic jolts?Dennis Quaid: Yeah, it's mainly things like the [rotary] dial phones instead of cellphones and the cars and the way the houses were furnished back then. That... //
