Vikings Finale Recap 1/24/18: Season 5 Episode 10 “Moments of Vision”

The Vikings Finale begins tonight with several of the different warriors singing to their gods, as the fog rolls in and they prepare for the biggest battle of their lives. Bishop Heahmund (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) kneels and prays to his God as well. The drums sound as Queen Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) leads her army with Bjorn Ironside (Alexander Ludwig) and Ubbe (Jordan Patrick Smith) by her side; she has black paint over her eyes as they stand at the top of the hills overlooking the French soldiers lined with Ivar the Boneless (Alex Hogh Anderson). She raises her sword from its sheath and drops it. Lagertha is sitting in the forest and kisses a necklace she is holding when Bishop Heahmund approaches her. She says if they live, they might find some happiness but if they die, she doubts she will ever see him again; as he will be in his heaven which is not part of this world. He has no intention of dying, She finds it hard to believe that he still thinks it is up to him whether he lives or dies but thinks she might die today. She asks him to kiss her one last time, he does and she says "now I can die!" READ MORE...

Vikings Season 5 Episode 10 Review: Moments of Vision

Wow. Visually, that was absolutely stunning . We've seen countless battles over the course of five seasons, but none quite like the one we saw on Vikings Season 5 Episode 10 . Kudos for the fantastic direction! Watching the battle from each character's different point of view and seeing it interspersed with flashbacks made it more compelling. Instead of just watching another bloody battle, it felt like we were inside the character's head. It brought the audience into the battle rather than just making us feel like an outside viewer. This could easily have been one of the best of the series based on direction alone.   ...Read More... https://www.tvfanatic.com/2018/01/vikings-season-5-episode-10-review-moments-of-vision/

Vikings Season 5 Episode 9 Review: A Simple Story

While the battle for the throne in Kattegat continues, a new Saxon king is crowned. Athelwulfdied on Vikings Season 5 Episode 9 , and thanks to Aethelreddeclining the throne, Alfred is now king. Long live King Alfred? That happened sooner than I expected. I figured it would at least be saved for the second half of the season, not to mention it all happened so fast. Still, we knew it would happen eventually, and it's only a matter of time now before we'll get to see Alfred lead his forces against Ivar. If looks could kill, though, Alfred's legacy as king would have been incredibly short-lived. Aethelred was staring daggers the entire time he watched Alfred accept the crown.   ...Read More... https://www.tvfanatic.com/2018/01/vikings-season-5-episode-9-review-a-simple-story/

King Harald Finehair (Peter Franzen) asks Astrid (Josefin Asplund) what she is doing, as she is loading one of the boats. She says even if she is carrying his child, she is still coming with him. They wonder if this is even home any more, as Halfdan says it appears the gods are not interested in fairness. Vikings: "The Departed Parts 1 And 2" Review

If you'd like to check out my interview with WWE Hall of Famer Edge about his new role on Vikings (he'll debut in the December 20th episode), click here. Vikings roared back to TV with a double-episode premiere that saw Lagertha face down her would-be-usurper Harald Finehair - and then make the mistake of allowing him to live, so that he could then escape and swipe Astrid from Kattegat. Now, I actually enjoyed Lagertha's choice to let Harald live, as I also actually believed Harald when he said he was done going after the throne since he'd, you know, murdered the woman he'd been trying to woo and impress. But I should have known there was a double cross coming since Harald had volunteered to be the one to go back to Kattegat in the first place. He wouldn't have done that if he had no interest in the crown, and in seeing a possibly overthrown Kattegat waiting for him. That's on me. READ MORE...
