If you enjoy a good period drama like Downton Abbey and have loved Pride and Prejudice you will find War and Peace extremely satisfying. Good acting, amazing settings and costumes, tremendous care of historical details for jet a very modern and fresh version of Tolstoj novel. Don't expect something boring: you'll finish the episode without even realizing it!
Make no mistake, this is no Downton Abbey. If you love a period drama with a true historical background that isn't dragged out, you will love this! Tolstoy loves tragedy and oh boy, does he twist the knife.
He will make your most loveable characters go through quite a few tragic twists of death, public disgrace and manipulation before finally finding where they belong. Just as grand as the series itself is the music composed to accompany Tolstoy's War and Peace. I'd almost say that it was possibly the best music composition for TV in recent years.
