Review of Wayward Pines

60 minutes

Imagine the perfect American town... beautiful homes, manicured lawns, children playing safely in the streets. Now imagine never being able to leave. You have no communication with the outside world. You think you’re going insane. You must be in Wayward Pines. Based on the best-selling novel “Pines” by Blake Crouch, and brought to life as a 10-episode mini series by suspenseful storyteller M. Night Shyamalan (“The Sixth Sense,” “Signs”), WAYWARD PINES is the intense new mind-bending event thriller evocative of the classic cult hit “Twin Peaks.”

The first season was amazing, and having not read the books (or even heard of them prior to watching the show) I was able to enjoy each reveal as it came. Sadly, the delay between seasons killed the momentum (not to mention actor contracts and plot-lines) of the first, leaving season two feeling entirely disconnected from what I had already watched and enjoyed. It was a good attempt, but the network shouldn't have delayed so long in airing the first season, as that left them with a series that couldn't succeed; even if it was popular.
