NBC cancels 'Up All Night,' 'Guys With Kids,' 'Whitney' and '1600 Penn' [Updated]

UPDATE 6 p.m. ET: NBC has also canceled first-year comedy "Guys With Kids" and sophomore "Up All Night," which was the subject of a quixotic attempt by the network to retool it from a single-camera show to a multi-camera one.NBC giveth and NBC taketh away. After picking up several pilots and giving a sixth-season renewal to "Parks and Recreation" on Thursday (May 9), the network swung the cancellation hammer on several other shows.First-year comedy "1600 Penn" won't be back next season. Neither will "Whitney," which got a surprise renewal last year but didn't survive to a third season.Both were expected, as ratings for both "1600" and "Whitney" were soft and NBC is doing a fairly serious overhaul of its comedy roster. TV ratings: 'American Idol' and 'Survivor' steady on Wednesday

Fast National ratings for Wednesday, March 13, 2013The Top 10 performances on "American Idol" Wednesday produced ratings in line with last week's show -- it grew a little bit in total viewers and dropped a tenth of a point in adults 18-49. "Survivor: Caramoan" also was on par with its performance last week, holding even in the 18-49 demographic and rising a tick in viewers.The night's only other new episodes, "Whitney" and "The Neighbors," were down some from last week.FOX scored 13.1 million viewers and an 8.0 rating/13 share in households in primetime, finishing well ahead of CBS (8.2 million, 5.2/8). ABC's 3.95 million viewers and 2.6/4 edged NBC's 3.8 million and 2.5/4. The CW (1.5 million, 1.0/2) trailed.FOX also dominated the 18-49 demo with a 3.6 rating. CBS was the best of the rest at 2.0.
