TV ratings: People's Choice Awards up but 'Modern Family' is Wednesday's top show

Fast National ratings for Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013The People's Choice Awards broadcast was up a little bit over last year, and it helped CBS score a win in total viewers Wednesday night. ABC also had a decent night, as all of its shows, led by "Modern Family," improved on their last original episode.Elsewhere, FOX's special "Stars in Danger: The High Dive" belly-flopped, shedding about a million viewers from its first hour to its second. NBC's "Law & Order: SVU," meanwhile, scored a season high in viewers.CBS drew just over 9 million viewers and a 5.8 rating/9 share in households in primetime, beating ABC's 7.6 million and 4.8/8. NBC (6.8 million, 4.4/7) came in third. TV ratings: Kennedy Center Honors and 'Criminal Minds' give CBS a victory Wednesday

Fast National ratings for Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012CBS' broadcast of the annual Kennedy Center Honors -- the only non-repeat on the broadcast networks Wednesday night -- helped the network score a ratings win. The special's total-viewer count was down a little bit from last year, but its adults 18-49 rating improved. A "Criminal Minds" repeat also did pretty well for the network.CBS averaged 8.3 million viewers and a 5.2 rating/9 share in households for the night, winning the evening by a wide margin over second-place NBC (4.3 million, 2.7/5). ABC (3.9 million, 2.5/4) came in third. The CW (1.6 million, 1.0/2) edged FOX (1.5 million, 1.0/2) for fourth.The Eye scored a 1.5 rating among adults 18-49 to lead the demographic race.
