Yusibu Episode #12 Anime Review

No opening music, title card opening straight to the action. Yes, it is final episode time. Unfortunately, Fino is firmly under the power of the Bloodstone. With the approach of the Starship Ent…ahem…the approach of the old guy’s flying buggy we get treated to a lava stream version of the Itano Circus for a moment, until the gang has to retreat at Warp 7. Don’t let this serious action fool you, however. We get a fanservice joke rolled into a bust padding joke practically right out of the gate. READ MORE...

Yusibu Episode #11 Anime Review

Raul is on the warpath. He will rescue Fino no matter what. Fino at the moment is being held by Raid and the conspirators who wish to restart the Demon-Human War. He offers her the Bloodstone of Control, an amulet passed on down the Demon Lord’s family line which allows its owner to control the minds of lesser demons. It’s the demons’ only way to survive, he says, with that tone of voice disreputable salesmen use. Fino counters that humans and demons can work together as she and Raul do. Blaze "helpfully" pipes in that Raul wanted to be a Hero; working retail was not his dream. Raid then uses the soft sell on Fino: Raul can be a Hero if she will be willing to become the next Demon Lord. READ MORE...

Yusibu Episode #09 Anime Review

Fino gets her first paycheck and it excites her greatly. Seara then treats the staff to dinner (as she always does on payday) and suggests that Raul accompany Fino for shopping on their day off the next day. All the while, a sinister man sits in the background (the guy who came out of the mirror in the Amada boss’s office at the end of last episode). Will this shopping trip involve some danger? Fino’s big shopping expedition is to a dollar store where she gets over-excited about getting a points card and other first-time shopping experiences. Fino also gives us an economics lesson, noting how other people’s spending leads to her salary, which enables her to spend which provides money for others (this is all true, by the way). There’s nothing like this in the demon world, apparently. Are the writers secretly the force behind Abenomics? (Just kidding). READ MORE...

Yusibu Episode #08 Anime Review

Oh boy. Judging from the title of this episode, it’s going to be fanservice galore. And as it stands we start where last episode left off, Nova sprawled out on the floor of the shop where Raul and Fino find her. Except it’s just because she’s hot (and we get a sweaty see-through shirt to remind us she’s hot in another meaning of the word). The store’s air conditioner has broken down, so Nova fainted from the heat. Raul, of course, thinks that she’s been attacked by a monster and overreacts, just in time for Seara and Viper to see him trying to undress Nova (which he was doing quite innocently). Cue predictable misunderstanding gag. READ MORE...

Yusibu Episode #07 Anime Review

So, the "crisis" hinted at the end of the previous episode is revealed: while the nice old lady bought an air conditioner from Leon, it appears that her son bought one from Amada, so there’s one air conditioner too many. When it comes to price, however, Amada is charging 20,000 gold less so Raul does the nobel thing and withdraws the sale. While Fino as usual makes noises, not understanding what’s going on, Raul quiets her down, telling her that they can’t make trouble for their customers. Before they go off, however, the son stops them as there is a snag in the air conditioner installation. It appears that the house’s magic supply isn’t strong enough to handle the air conditioner. Lore suggests they look inside to see what is drawing on magic power in the house. Eventually, they find the cause: a horde of those magic eating slimes we’ve seen before are living under the house and eating all the magic. It’s not like last time, where Fino just overloaded one slime and it’s over. This will take some strategy. Lore comes up with a plan to lure the slimes out by having Fino feed them a little magic to get them to come out and then explode them with her full power (we learn in passing that Fino has a frighteningly high level of magic power). The plan works, though it does involve Fino having to survive the icky slimes for a while. The plan works even better than expected, of course, as the son of the nice old lady changes his mind and turns down the Amada air conditioner (even though that involves a hefty cancellation fee) and instead accepts the one from Leon. Yusibu Episode #05 Anime Review

As if the show itself doesn’t have a long enough title, they’ve decided to make the episode title exceedingly long as well. Necessary however, as the Leon Magic Shop is largely devoid of customers and something needs to be done. After noticing an article in the local newspaper, Seara sets in motion the title of this episode. At least Captain Perverted gets his comeuppance as Fino had put a poison swamp in front of the store (she thought it would enhance the front and entice in customers), which he got caught in and needed to seek a cure at the Lawson next door. Sadly for him, they were out of antidote and his attempt to get Lam-chan to allow him to feel her up resulted in her remembering another method of remedy: one that involves strong physical pain. Yusibu Episode #04 Anime Review

Is it me, or did the opening animation get much more…bouncier? Okay, that aside, the staff of Leon are asked by Elza to help her out, as the Lawson next door is short-staffed. As their main store is in Dyna and their only branch in the capital is here next to the Leon Magic Store, help won’t be coming until tomorrow. Seara is all keen to help out (she wants to wear the Lawson uniform), but Viper calls her on it and instead it is Fino who is sent to help out, even though she doesn’t want to. READ MORE...

Yusibu Episode #03 Anime Review

Apparently Fino has an alarm clock that frightens Raul enough that he comes over to her apartment to get her to turn it off. The problem there is that Fino likes to sleep in the buff and Raul, in classic anime style, is embarrassed to see an attractive, well-endowed young woman naked. While it always makes me shake my head, this is just the way it is in anime. Annnnnndddd…the fanservice is back in full force this episode. I’m not complaining, but for those with a lower tolerance for it and who were happy by the appearance of some heart in the show, this might be disheartening. But if not, then feast your eyes not only on Fino but Seara emphasizing her assets and others later in the course of the episode. READ MORE...

Yusibu Episode #02 Anime Review

Okay, the official title card now reads "Yu Sibu," so I guess I’ll go with that version from now on. So, as we learn from Raul and one of his neighbors this morning, it was only a hundred years ago that they discovered how to turn magic into energy to run technology. Thus, a relatively recent change in their lives. As for life changes, at the store Raul continues to try to teach Fino the finer points of customer service…and continues to fail at it. It comes to the point where he has to write down the standard lines fed to customers on her hand so that she will know what to say (what she ended up saying when trying to imitate Raul began to get rather laughable).
