Milk is a 2008 biopic about the later life and assassination of San Francisco city supervisor/gay rights activist Harvey Milk (played by Sean Penn). The film is directed by Gus Van Sant. The film is one of two films about Harvey Milk. The other, an adaptation by Bryan Singer, The Mayor of Castro Street, was suspended due to the 2007 2008 Writers Guild of America strike.
