Gosick Episode #02 Anime Review

With the basic setup in the first episode where we're introduced to Kazuya and Victorique, Gosick moves into what seems to be its standard mode here with a fairly strong piece that puts the two in an interesting situation that they have to think themselves out of. The show brought us some really strong animation in the first one which is followed up with well here as it sets the mood expertly, both in setting and style. The Victorian age it takes place in gives the show a very good looking that lets it stand apart in general.

Gosick puts the pair in an interesting situation this time around as they've invited to an event on board a ship called the 'Miniature Garden Box Evening' where it's a big fancy event for a relatively small group of people, numbering just over twelve or so. It's a very proper affair overall but it takes a turn for the worse when in the midst of their meal, everyone slowly blacks out. When they awaken, they've all been moved to a nearby lounge and the same number of people are no longer there. The mixture of men and women in their elegant clothes and in a very elegant setting turns decidedly dark as people start being attacked from different positions around the ship from there on, with the first one going down hard in the lounge which sets the rest off in a panic.
