The Most Important Shows on TV: Week of September 22, 2014

Which TV series will your friends (and the entire internet) be talking about this week? Stay informed—or at least be able to fake it—with SideReel's weekly guide to The Most Important Shows on TV.

Gotham: S19E1

Gotham (Series Premiere)

Monday at 8:00pm on FOX

Why: This might just be the biggest new show of the fall—and besides, it involves BATMAN and BATMAN-RELATED THINGS!

Prepare to talk about: OMG, James Gordon is played by Benjamin McKenzie?! Jada Pinkett Smith is someone named FISH MOONEY? How it's always nighttime in Gotham.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: S2E1

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (Season Premiere)

Tuesday at 9pm on ABC

Why: To know anything about the Marvel Universe, one must know everything about the Marvel Universe. Plus, the titular agents are now fugitives, so that'll be fun.

Prepare to talk about: How this show really came into its own in the back half of the first season; how fugitives manage to stay so well-groomed; and when is Cobie Smulders coming back?

How to Get Away With Murder/Grey's Anatomy/Scandal

Shonda Rhimes Night (How to Get Away With Murder/Grey's Anatomy/Scandal)

Thursday at 8pm, 9pm, and 10pm, respectively on ABC

Why: Ms. Rhimes is the boss lady of Thursday night, and we couldn't be more thrilled. How to Get Away With Murder stars the brilliant Viola Davis (whom we'd follow to the ends of the earth), Grey's is still plugging along 11 years after its debut, and Scandal is basically the hottest returning show on TV!

Prepare to talk about: How sexily, murderously, scandalous all of these shows are and how Rhimes must have metaphorical balls of steel to make shows as amazing as she does.
