Stars have been making gorgeous pop for 15 years, poking their heads out of the Canadian underground with a pair of incredible singles—“Ageless Beauty” and “Your Ex-Lover Is Dead”—from 2005’s Set Yourself On Fire. For the final installment of this year’s A.V. Undercover, the band (minus co-lead-singer Torquil Campbell) were tasked with covering PJ Harvey’s blistering “O Stella,” from 1992’s classic Dry. (It’s one of Kurt Cobain’s 50 favorite albums of all time, y’know!) They removed some of the song’s angry temperament, but gave it a new atmosphere.
