Mothers started as the solo project of Georgia’s Kristine Leschper, though by the time the excellent debut album When You Walk A Long Distance You Are Tired was taking shape, she had recruited a band to fill out her darkly folky sound. The band chose Glenn Frey’s “The Heat Is On” from our list, which had been a finalist for the past few years; it took Frey’s death early in 2016 to finally push it over the edge, and Mothers bring it a new, almost post-punk life. From Beverly Hills Cop to the walls of A.V. Undercover, here it is. Enjoy.
