We knew that when Deerhoof agreed to come in for an A.V. Undercover session that we were in for something unusual. Over the years, the San Francisco band has never sat still creatively, veering from punk to experimental to the fully unclassifiable. They didn’t disappoint us, bringing a metallic edge to Adam Ant’s first solo hit, 1982’s “Goody Two Shoes.” Stick around, because half the band surprised us by interpolating another song from the era. If you look closely at Ed Rodriguez’s guitar, you might guess it before it happens. Deerhoof’s latest album is The Magic.
